The Enchanted Apple

Walking through the woods, enchanted and tall,
I came across an apple tree, huge in full form
Closer and closer, I gaze and I stare
At all of its splendour, no branch was left bare

Reaching out a hand, I stretch and I lean
Trying to pick an apple, that’s red and not green
Stretching and straining, I nearly trip up
One more attempt now, my eyes wide shut

Step backwards do I, again and again
Looking down at my hand, what did it contain?
Shiny in colour, lustrous and red
If I am Snow White, will I end up dead?

I gaze at the apple, lean in take a bite,
I hope and I pray, this isn’t goodnight
Confusion consumes me, I descend into dream
But where is my prince, oh what does this mean?

Time has now passed, a week or a year?
I’m trapped in my dream, I shed a small tear
Hoping and praying, each day just the same
Then one day my prince, he’s here look he came

Ah you are a good storyteller. Glad the prince came!
