Women In Military Service For America Memorial

Oft overlooked veterans,
of EVERY American war
The Medal of Honor,
one woman only ever wore.*

Women in Military Service,
a concept slow to grow.
Unrecognized, under-compensated,
yet, always there, always ready to go.

A Memorial to Women in Military Service,**
a concept slow to grow.
In every war, everywhere,***
they are always ready to go.

Please join me in well-deserved salute
to these mothers, sisters, lovers
and wives; usually unarmed, always brave.
Many died alongside men — the traditional soldiers.

*Only one women has been awarded the United States of America's Medal of Honor: Mary Edwards Walker (Civil War). How Many more deserved it?
**Located in Arlington National Cemetery
***If you are not US Citizen, please recognize the women veterans of your country, I'm sure there are many.

John, as a retired Air Force man, I had the distinct honor and privilege to be the supervisor of, and supervised by some of the greatest people to ever grace the Air Force Blue uniform. I treated them with the same respect and dignity as with their male counterparts. What a pleasure to see them "re-up" and make the Air Force their chosen life profession. Thank you for the accolades to our women in uniform. They are tops! I even married one. lol

It's only right that you bring this to people's attention, John. For many years women have been sidestepped in many sectors of life, amongst them those in military service. Let's give them their due! Regards // paul

Yes, we should be recognizing the things that all people do. I keep asking myself why we still have people dying and fighting, and why we haven't learned to deal with our disagreements differently. We have only one life and one planet. It's a shame to lose it. And yes, women should be given credit and compensation for what they do. That is a measure of a fair system. So, I would say that we have a long way to go still.
