Parting

There's no need for heartfelt goodbyes,
Nor tears, though they may cloud your parting.
I wish to see it with my very eyes,
Convince myself that life is just restarting--
That everything will stay the same,
And you will find no one to replace me.
That I will scream, and scratch, and bleed your name,
And you would hear or feel, then turn to face me.
That distance would be just a noun,
One we could choose to leave unuttered.
And we'd pretend the sky's not falling down,
As though we'd known the future never mattered.
But please, remember me, when you have time to spare,
When your new friends and places start to feel as old as ours.
And if you fail to find your answers there,
Let me shine light upon your darkest hours.
So, don't despair, my dearest friend,
Allow yourself to suffer no remorse.
I'm part of all you have to leave behind, but in the end,
I would gladly lose myself, so you could find yours.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
