No Light

I have no light, but what you shine,
No voice, but that you give me.
I am held captive by a truth that is not mine,
Forever waiting for you to deceive me.

There's always something to regret,
A few mistakes of which you'll never know.
I've given you no reason as of yet,
Though, I still brace myself to watch you go.

There's no 'goodnight' for those who do not sleep,
No gentle whisper needed to awake them.
Only a longing which was never theirs to keep.
? hope which builds, simply to break them.

Parting

There's no need for heartfelt goodbyes,
Nor tears, though they may cloud your parting.
I wish to see it with my very eyes,
Convince myself that life is just restarting--
That everything will stay the same,
And you will find no one to replace me.
That I will scream, and scratch, and bleed your name,
And you would hear or feel, then turn to face me.
That distance would be just a noun,
One we could choose to leave unuttered.
And we'd pretend the sky's not falling down,
As though we'd known the future never mattered.
But please, remember me, when you have time to spare,
When your new friends and places start to feel as old as ours.
And if you fail to find your answers there,
Let me shine light upon your darkest hours.
So, don't despair, my dearest friend,
Allow yourself to suffer no remorse.
I'm part of all you have to leave behind, but in the end,
I would gladly lose myself, so you could find yours.

Come, My Love

Come, my love. Come to my side and rest,
Your head upon mine, as I hoped you will.
I merely hope that time knows best,
Yet time is flying, and you stand still.

Come, my love, to repair what was broken,
And make my suffering seem worth the while,
A promise which was never truly spoken,
Though hinted at enough to beguile.

Come, my love, and be mine, at last,
For so long I have withered on my own.
Help me escape remembrance of my past,
Make me forget of all I've known.

Elaborate Designs

Beyond the curtain, lies a prayer,
That you might come upon another way.
To find the heart with which to dare,
To stow your restlessness away.

For all the truth that you may speak,
For all your willingness to take the blame.
It doesn't help admitting you are weak,
When you are weak enough to stay the same.

Someday the storm around you will subside,
And all your shadows will be lit anew.
But you can't fill the nothingness inside,
With loving that you never knew.

So, pull the curtain, and reveal the lie,
Your actions silent, as your words take steer.
You were never meant to find out why,
Yet you still question why you're here.

The morning fails to show the signs,
That night will not be spent in vain.
You' re sick of these elaborate designs,
But they are the only that remain.

So Much For Choices To Be Made

Dissolve my body, waste my mind,
Destroy all proof of my existence.
I guarantee that I'll be kind,
I won't put up any resistance.

Take my words and break them down,
To dots and letters bursting with desire.
Collect my every verb and noun,
Set them alight with ceaseless fire.

Ignore my so-called great potential,
My heart is here, yet so untrue.
I might have never been essential,
But I felt I had a purpose, too.

Count down my ending with your fancy stories,
Of how I will one day find someone.
I cannot stand the sight of all your glories.
When I have come so far with none.

My brightest light, is now a shade,
My songs of beauty; not much more than a moan.
So much for choices to be made!
To live alone, or die alone.

Endgame

I only know how to find peace through war.
That I can create anew, after destruction.
I believe that less should never equal more,
And happiness is nothing more than a distraction.

I hold my word until the final hand,
Stay still until the pieces all stop scrambling.
I feign knowledge of things I dare not understand,
And take action only when my world is crumbling.

I used to be the one that I could always trust,
But now, I find my faith in me to be dwindling.
I've found that even time itself will rust,
And that which blossoms, can also be unyielding.

But in the end, I know I'll never win this,
Though I keep fighting, I know I'll end up spent.
I can't be certain that I even mean this,
But it might be too late to repent.

A Point To Prove

There is no need to cry for love never obtained,
No sense in giving life to fleeting dreams.
These hands so yearn for touch, but are untrained,
And life, too short to waste on flying whims.

Perhaps, these pleasures were not made for me ,
And all I merit is a drawn-out, loveless life.
I've found no dear embrace to warm me,
When all around, the loves of others seem so rife.

I have no purpose left to drive me,
Merely a pulse, which bids my feet to move.
I am a ghost, in search of one who may revive me,
Before I'm left without a point to prove.

In Deepest Darkness

In deepest darkness, lies the light,
That you were burdened to protect.
To shield from sorrow and delight,
And all you might ever expect.

Beneath the surface, boils the rage,
That once was patience of the greatest kind.
You can't escape the confines of your cage,
When they start deep within your mind.

You start to hope, and then you fall,
Then you rise only to deceive.
That you are not afraid at all,
And you' re still willing to believe.

Nothing seems likely to change,
No one's really going to notice.
You find it's increasingly strange,
That you are the only one to know this.
