Phone call with my mum

I feel sad.
I feel mad.
I feel bad.
I feel sad.

A phone came my way last night
And it put my mind into a fright
It was from my mother, unexpected
Tears on the phone not what I expected

She filtered out some small truths
Enough of the story for me to deduce
Conversation fuelled by the alcohol she consumed
My brain couldn't take the incoming doom

But talk to her I did and i said I love her
She said it back which made my heart shatter
Everything all very superficial
But a conversation which was very beneficial

The aftermath is where I struggle
Will it be another 3 years till she says I love you
Telling me she thinks she is going to die
The aging processs scaring both her and I

She told me to text to stay in contact
But to me that sounds like a one sided contract
I'll make the moves to fix her narrative
Both our truths are comparative

I love her more than I should say
I would love to see her again one day
But before that the truth must come out
A relationship rebuilt on trust not doubt

So ill text her tommorow maybe
See where my words will actually take me
Maybe this is the door iv been wanting to open
Or maybe it should all be left unspoken

I feel sad.
I feel mad.
I feel bad.
I feel .................
