It

There is an overwhelming pain that haunts me,
It comes from the depth of my soul.
Its intensity is alarming
It stifles my growth
Its darkness overshadows my character
inhibiting who I am.
In its full capacity, it is crippling
Making it impossible to stand
It’s confusing for its complexity
causing it to be difficult to understand
Although knowing doesn't give me any answers
And by no means does it mend a cure
The realization that it was self-inflicted
causes it to be difficult to endure
At times the heaviness in my heart is too much to carry
The sorrow is too much too bare
I've approached it from many angles
trying desperately to find a solution
God, I beg you forgive me,
and give me peace through resolution
