Playing the Course

Nothing beats a day playing the course,
where I'm always looking for one good shot.

What will be my driving force,
surely the best wood that I've got.

With almost three hundred yards to the cup,
hope my ball finds good lie.

All is quiet and no one to interrupt,
a steady swing and the ball will fly.

The ball has good distance and height,
until it hooks left into a tree.

Making par might be out of sight,
since my ball I cannot see.

Make it on the green in two I doubt,
maybe this just isn't my day.

Four inches and a little slope,
separate me from going one under.

It's going in for sure but nope,
now I play for par due to my blunder.

I didn't shoot well but I'll feel no remorse,
for I love playing the course.
