Autumn Air

I get a smell of the autumn air
It's too soon but it's welcome
I feel a fall breeze
It covers me with warmth
it surrounds me
My stomach is turned to knots
my mind and body uneasy
But this is comforting
The fall smells so good, so clean
it's one of my favorite smells in the world
The air tells tales of Halloween and Thanksgiving
Things to come
Pleasant and sweet
But the air brings with it
memories of times pased
Good times and bad
All I can feel is happiness for the future
and sorrow for the past
Things, people, places
all unfinished business and "what if's"
So many lifetimes
all in one
My heart aches for the ones I've lost
I will never forget them
They will always be with me
No matter what time or place
I will never forget the ones I've shared time with
in the autumn air
