Memories

Memories

Memories are funny things
these remnants of our past

They never really leave our minds
they last and last and last

Some are good, some are bad
and some just break our hearts

Yet nonetheless we keep them all
for they are all the parts

The parts and pieces of our lives
stored in within our being

Some are vivid some are vague
and some are not worth seeing

But take our memories away
these footprints of our lives

Erase them from our minds and souls
just cut them out with knives

I think you'd find that what you took
was personality

And now an empty shell is left
I don't remember me

I don't remember how I loved
I don't remember who

I don't remember how to sing
the songs have all gone too

I don't remember how to cry
I don't remember tears

I don't remember anything
that happened all those years

Please let me keep my memories
put them back where they should be

They make the person who I am
and I really kinda' like me

Beautiful rhyme and flow with a great message. Good or bad our memories of the past have made us who we are today. Love, Shar
