String of Impressions

Jewel  white adorns my neck
an heirloom  given by  Mom
when  she breathed low, feeling frail  --

Somehow, on my natal day
I grew uneasy, disturbed
till clear pearls rolled on the floor--
Instantly   Mom’s image loomed
Stunned, I rang her… and waited.
