Real Nightmare

The shadows move...
They come to me.
A familiar scent;
Yes, they knew me.

“Leave me alone!”
I shout in silence.
I try to be still--
My act of defiance.

They explore me;
The path untraveled.
The beauty within
Became unraveled.

The darkness lurks,
The light they seek.
There they find it--
Tears on my cheek.

Now I’m awake
But relief disappears...
My nightmare reality...
He smirks at my fears.

Great imagery. I found your poem to be very emotive.
