True Or False: a Little Teaser

Here's something for you,
 To guess if it's true.
 About little old me,
 Just wait, and you'll see:
 On my dream wedding day,
I went out of my way,
 To bid an adieu
 To my lover so true.
 The problem with this?
 It took one simple kiss,
 From that gentleman friend...
 For my wedding to end.

Did he, maybe, then stop being your lover and become your husband instead? Let's hope he keeps acting your lover.
