Bacon, Morning and Camping

The smell permeated tents and campers
A mixture of smoke from the camp fire
And the smell of bacon cooking
Was like an unmistakable beacon
Like a loud speaker telling all in the area
That breakfast was cooking
Enhancing an insatiable appetite
That hit the pit of your stomach like a freight train
Slowly one by one people were awakening
Coming out of their shelters of the night
The weather is sweet with morning dew
And the smell that lingers
Tantalizes the taste buds of all around
The one doing the cooking sincerely regrets
That not enough bacon was purchased
To feed the whole camp.
