Highway 65

I'll never forget that dreadful day
Your mother called your father to say
The angels had come to take you away
And left two crosses along the highway
At the time we had no clue
The second cross meant Meg would be joining you
She was still with us for a short while
Then gone too was her beautiful smile
It seemed you were gone without a trace
Leaving us with only memories of your beautiful face
And a void in our hearts, nothing can replace
I'm dead inside, no longer alive
Part of me died, with you
On highway 65

A sad but beautiful wirte. I'm so sorry for you loss. Sometimes expression lessons the grief. Just don't stop writing, you have a beautiful rhyming poem and I'm glad you shared your heartache. Caryl
