Eternal Pain

Eternal Pain

Raped, beaten and taken from me
Body stretched out, hand and knee.
Blood on the door, blood on the wall
Eyes open wide, but nobody saw.
One life, two lives denied,
A second soul, awaking inside.
A son, a legacy, and things unseen
My hope, my soul, and my dream.
Two lifeless bodies, one slain soul
One dark heart, black as coal.
He’ll never know, just what he took
Closed casket, closed life, and closed book.
Her last night, nothing to gain
My ball, my chain, my eternal pain.

Joshua, your lines cry out with the pain of cruelty and abuse. They must have been difficult to write. Congratulations on your contest placement.

Dear Joshua, your poem captivates my heart and imagination with it's heart-wrenching imagery. Such a deep, dark, soulfully expressive piece. The sadness of such a poignant portrait of loss can't help but seep down into my soul. Congratulations for your success in Sara's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Congratulations on placing in my contest. Your poem bleeds emotions and the sorrow of death brilliantly. It really hits you in the gut. "Two lifeless bodies, one slain soul One dark heart, black as coal.," just heartbreaking. Thank you for writing on my contest.
