Welcome Home

She didn’t know what to expect,
a foreign land to what was supposed to be familiar but so different
The smell of coffee, diesel fumes, cologne and bacon grease all stations smell the same
Doughnuts on the table; warm smiles and back slaps
“ Where are you from? “ let the California jokes fly because only Cali would send over a small vegetaran female
“ grab a cup, sit with us.”
“ your part of our family now”
Something she had waited so long to hear.
Laughing during movie night
Her own locker, dresser, bed. She has her own seat on the couch.
Sitting backwards with a old school helmet
Oversized headphones on her ears
Training was done from different points of view
She got sworn in last night
She made it home
