Fern

I run through the fields,
Dirt on my feet,
Grass between my toes,
And the wind in my face.
I want adventure,
As I climb the tallest tree.
The new leaves are fresh,
They match the grass,
The birds,
The liveliness of the world.

I look out
On to the world,
Never knowing
What will be next.
I refuse to look down,
Scared of the fall,
Scared of the failure.
A bird chirps
From the branch behind me,
And I smile,
Knowing someone is
Looking out for me.

The world may be strange,
A new adventure,
A new feeling,
New people, new words.
But the grass tickles
My toes, the dandelions
Blowing in the wind.
New life is always
Growing,
Never leaving anyone behind.
The world stands still,
As I stand beneath the tree.
The bird chirps again,
And I feel at peace.
The world is out
In front of me, and
I know to never let go.
