I painted us perfect

I painted us perfect,
love's untarnished gleam,
but your control chipped away
at the heart of my dream.
Five years, a gilded cage
where freedom slipped away,
now your betrayal's echo
darkens every day.
His whispers poisoned trust,
his games left me confined,
wounds deep and lingering,
a love redefined.

If it was perfect then love would not be a second hand emotion.. right? I feel your words... heartache is a difficult sensation
