It Used To Be My Childhood

A sweet lilac breeze on the rain soaked wind
Memories of childhood potions made from sticks and flowers
Rocks and water spewing forth from the rain spout on my house
A magical fountain of youth in a suburban wonderland

Endless hours of play with my best friend and soulmate
She was a medical assitant, a partner in crime, a teacher, a student
The only person who could get that last ingredient from a rain soaked tree
So that we could make a remedy
To save the masses yet again
From some unnamed plight or peril

We were the saviors of our youth,
Making memories that would last a lifetime

When it rains that soft summer rain
I long for the play times of yesterday
For the friend who made fairy tale dreams possible
And every adventure twice what it would have ever been without her

Older now, wiser now, or are we?
What i wouldn't give to play in the rain again
