It Used To Be My Childhood

A sweet lilac breeze on the rain soaked wind
Memories of childhood potions made from sticks and flowers
Rocks and water spewing forth from the rain spout on my house
A magical fountain of youth in a suburban wonderland

Endless hours of play with my best friend and soulmate
She was a medical assitant, a partner in crime, a teacher, a student
The only person who could get that last ingredient from a rain soaked tree
So that we could make a remedy
To save the masses yet again
From some unnamed plight or peril

We were the saviors of our youth,
Making memories that would last a lifetime

When it rains that soft summer rain
I long for the play times of yesterday
For the friend who made fairy tale dreams possible
And every adventure twice what it would have ever been without her

Older now, wiser now, or are we?
What i wouldn't give to play in the rain again

A Beautiful Lie

She blinks back the pain as she starts her day
Today like so many in the past
She puts on her front for them all to see
And like all old lies it fits comfortably
She practices her smile in the bathroom mirror
Such a happy girl
Yes, such a very happy girl
Everyone one wants to be who she is
She blinks back the pain from her past
Tears dont fall, not from these eyes
Her heart is not made of glass
She wears a smile for all to see
And like all old lies it fits comfortably
She puts on her lipstick in the bathroom mirror
Such a pretty girl
Yes, such a very pretty girl
Her momma would be proud
No one can see the emptiness in her eyes
No one hears her scream
No one sees who she is inside
No one knows what she can be
She is just me
Just
Me

Broken

When the night has come and all seems lost
We cling to the shreds of ourselves that are left behind
In the aftermath of the storm
Memories echo in the haunted corridors of your mind
Your heart shatters into what seems to be a million pieces
Glass
Forever stained
Eternally broken
The winds of change whip harshly at your fragile face
Unable to stand in the chaos you fall to it
A victim of the one thing you always knew you could trust
Love

Heart Whisper

At the dawn of the day
When the sun kisses the sky
I long for him
At night
As the stars spread their beauty across the blackness
And Apollo himself hangs the moon
My heart whispers his name

Tethered

Your touch
Your fingers in my hair
Your words
Harsh against my face

Its like a slap
When you look at me that way
I want to hate you
Until you bleed a different color

Love, lust and loathing
Pouring from my veins
You're like a drug
That slowly kills me from the inside

I won't crawl
On my hands and knees for you
Not this time
I've opened up enough

It's your turn
To take your time
And weigh the situation
I'll be here
If you decide to find me
