Give It a Chance

So you value me as friend
But I see you’re having second thoughts again
Why can’t I be an exception
One that’s immune to your old perceptions

You’re trying to see something that isn’t there
But you already know that isn’t fair
For what you see before you is unlike any other
You’ve seen the outside, do you choose not to look further

Step closer and look into my soul
For what you see, isn’t a black hole
It is the purest kind of light
One that would keep you warm on the coldest of nights

To trust isn’t a must; it’s all up to you
Is to let me in really a sin
If so, I must go

What are you so afraid of…betrayal
Take a deep breathe….exhale
For I am a saint
And best believe you can take that to the bank

So what would it take to change your mind
For you to see my heart is kind
Will you take my hand and be my friend
Or have we come to a dead end
