Still Strong To Say Am Fine
In the mirror of life, I stand tall and strong,
Yet within, a battle rages, fierce and long.
A smile I wear, a lie I bear,
"Am fine, thank God," I declare.
A back that aches, a spirit that breaks,
Yet, I hold on, for my own sake.
Can't work, can't play, can't join the fray,
Yet, I whisper to the world, "I'm okay."
In the silence of the night, my tears take flight,
Yet, when dawn breaks, I step into the light.
Friends see my face, not my hidden case,
In their eyes, I'm just part of the human race.
"Am fine, thank God," echoes in the air,
A mantra of strength, hiding my despair.
Deep down, the heavens know my plight,
In my day life, I fight the good fight.
No peace, no joy, just a hollow void,
Yet, I stand strong, my spirit unalloyed.
They see my looks, not the pain I book,
In the environment, I'm just another rook.
"Am fine, thank God," I say with a nod,
A facade for the world, a pact with God.
In the end, it's a battle of the mind,
Still strong to say, "Am fine," yet pained inside.
