Mourning
Today was the first time I went out
After three days of staying indoors
But the memories kept rushing by
So I went out for air
I walked faster than my usual pace
Cause most times when I'm out for a walk
I walk slowly as we talk about life
And now I move fast cause I have no one to tell
I'd have carried your purse
And held you by the arm
As you'd tell me about how these places have changed
Telling me how just like me the places have grown
You'd point out to the birds
And you'd tell me how you loved the sounds
That the best mornings were ones where the air
wasn't still, because even the trees are swaying to nature's tunes
I sat on this particular bench
It was just perfectly situated on our path
This is where we'd have a rest
Catch our breath as we take in nature's beauty
You'd tell me how you always loved nature
And that you'd want to rest in a vast field
So that even in your deep sleep
You enjoy the nice warm breeze,
Cause you were born in a windy season
Today was the first time I went out
Alone, cause I was always with you
Cause in every step you've always guided me
Now you can watch over each step
As I walk onto the path you've illuminated for me in this life
