A Beautiful Goodbye

A Beautiful Goodbye

As I stare into her eyes I feel the sense of yearning
To know exactly what keeps those eyes gazing at me
Maybe a new sense of truth by careful discernment
Of two hearts juxtaposed in the sweetest disposition

I lean in to feel the warmth travel between us
With each breath she takes I am overwhelmed
That such a being like me could ever love another
And be blessed to enjoy the long hoped reciprocation

With every graceful twitch of her body wrapped in mine
Jolts awareness into my already prancing nerves
Finding a modest place to share and feed
The passion that reveals itself in the form of a sigh

As we grasp each other tighter with the gentlest of ease
Knowing that forever can be felt in this way
I take the last attempt to feel our pressed skin
And keep faith that there will be more goodbyes
