Hope and Love

They say that hope is happiness,
they say that love is blind,
but hope for love,
clearly seen as quite sad,
is unlike any other kind.

For too often this hope remains that,
an unfulfilled dream that may never be found,
and with happiness at mind, yet sorrow at heart,
this hope for true love will soon fall apart.

So these thoughts are for now swept away,
saved up in my mind for another sad day
and though these dreams bring my heart much distress,
I'll hold onto them tightly and pray,
and when they return I should feel simply blessed,
for they say that from hope, comes happiness.
