Child again

I want to grow up to be a child,
with a person I can hold on to,
because I didn't deserve to be left unloved.

They threw away my favourite cycle,
saying someone else needed it more.
They left me,
then blamed me for mistakes I never meant to make
Called me a burden,
over and over again.

They got me a dog
and gave him away
because they couldn't take care of him.
They snatched my last moments with him,
even when they knew
it wasn't fair.

They gave me this body
and let me shrink and wrinkle
under the weight of their words.
Pierced it with sorrowful memories
and robbed me of everything
I once considered mine.
