Another Angel Taken

Our lives shook the day we heard.
The scars left in your wake.
Forever in our hearts remain
The love they'll never take.

It's nothing you were proud of
Stripping layers from your life.
And the pain it caused so many.
Hurting deeper than a knife.

It wasn't your intention
To have shattered those you Love.
And we're left to pick the pieces
As you look down from above.

It's time to share this story
So perhaps it may assist.
In preventing yet another
To be added to that list.

The sound of your laughter
Masking pain so deep within.
The carnage that was left behind
From this drug called heroin.

Your smile was so infectious
Forever engraved upon my soul.
No blame be set upon you
May your spirit become whole.

In God's light may you find comfort
And your spirit be set free.
No more pain stand in your shadow
May the world wake up and see.

For this affects so many
And it shows us no regard.
So please take away the stigma
Of this matter oh so hard.

We all must band together
In loving empathy.
And heal this world around us
In restoring harmony.

A nicely written poem that should stir emotion from anyone who has lost someone to a drug overdose.
