The Cross Before Me and a World Behind Me

On a beautiful day, there stood a man
Amidst the troubles, under the scorching sun
He cannot be Happy and he never can
Who was seeking for help and there was none

Ten thousand thoughts ran in his head
Yet he chose to stand and wait
He had nothing, only tears to shed
It was his fate that he was always late

Late to class, late to work
Late to the very thing he did
People thought of him as a jerk
His world was messy and acrid

He always had the sparkle in his eyes
With a big fat smile on his face
Suddenly something made him realise
That he was no more in the race

It was a state of mind which he couldn't share
A secret he couldn't tell any
All he needed was love and care
All empty pockets, not even a penny

Even if he had money, it wouldn't help
Less was his time and killer wasn't late
A situation where he can only yelp
The word late now sounded very great

No years no months only days were there
A longing heart to see the light
He just concluded life wasn't fair
As he was alone and he had to fight

A battle with a winner who never lost
An opponent without any fame
A thief who demanded life as his cost
Can you guess his name?

The thief, the killer isn't a human
Until he gasped his last breath
Not any dream nor an illusion
It was nothing but his own death
