The Reflection

The scariest confrontation
perceivable enough
not a ghost, not a specter
but the one perched up, upfront
I see it.
The dark corners of that dark past
The shadowed figure that looked much alike
Holding back tears of guilt, remorse,
of self pity, the anger unleashed.
The face masked upon by a calm nod
above and beyond that fury beneath.
I stare into the eyes.
I see it.
The invisible clutches tugging on
The brawny desire to step out
of that glassy barrier
to step out, to be free
to be considered something besides
itself.
From the house of the dead
to be called something besides
the 'Reflection.'
