This Was Hard To End

weren't we
what life was
meant to be

we played out the little parts
we saw by heart
i even wore my hair
the same way
and wore shoes
with nails through
my feet

i wanted gardens
bigger than me
and thought that
blisters only happened
to others

funny all the tricks
that get played on you
we took it to forever
way too far

to fire
to ice
maybe to the sea
endless bitterness
on the other side of promises
and broken locks
with rusty keys
finding you
finding me

and then i wanted nothing more
