He Has Risen

He has risen
I truly believe
To be with our father
He, soon, will leave

Born of a virgin
Love he did bring
Men came from afar
The angels did sing

Son of a carpenter
Things built with his hands
Preaching Faith and Love
Spreading Hope through the lands

A man on the cross
He died for our sins
Saved from ourselves
A new life begins

He has risen
I truly believe
To be with our father
He, soon, will leave

Homesickness

Homesickness
is truly an awful feeling

It’s an emptiness
that needs to be filled
It’s a sadness
felt deep within one’s soul
It’s a loneliness
incomparable to any other
It’s a yearning
for the yesteryears of one’s life
It’s a longing
to be near missed loved ones
It’s an emotion
we all experience from time to time

Homesickness
is like being lost within yourself

Freedom For All

We hope to be treated kind, without bias
So often we're sorely disappointed

From the start, we’re taught how to love & hate
But life teaches us lessons, along the way

Different beliefs don’t mean either is wrong
Educational values arise from all cultures

Covered in ash, at New York's ground zero
Working together, colors obscured… no judging

Our servicemen fight, protecting one another
Gender, race… religion aren’t of the soldiers concern

Our beliefs should always shine through us
Striving to maintain basic human rights & freedom for all

Land, Air and Sea

The tortoise -
Hides her eggs in the sand
Hoping the newborn find their way to the sea

The hummingbird -
Swift fluttering wings
Disguising its iridescent breast that very few have seen

The jellyfish -
Deadly stretched-out tentacles
Guiding a beautifully translucent body along its path

The coyote -
Howls on a mountaintop
Announcing his catch to the pack, off in the distance

The snake -
Coils, then strikes
Warning his prey of his intentions, beforehand

The eagle -
Soars freely through the sky
Seeking food for its young, while protecting the nest

The orca -
Finds his soul mate
Loving her monogamously, until his very death

The panther -
Sleek are his movements
Cunning, prowess, and endurance are his strengths

The spider –
Spins an intricate web
Attracting unsuspecting guests that will never leave

The dove -
Takes peaceful flight
Representing love of all, no matter what the species

The dolphin -
Leaps playfully from the water
Glistening sunlight dances across his fins

The human –
Supposedly the superior race
Trying to maintain balance between all creatures, weak and strong

Night Falls

day
fades
night falls
upon us
cooling air surrounds
the moon and stars sparkle above

The World, At Your Feet, It Does Lay

Childhood seemingly fading away
You’re blooming into a woman at last
You’ll start looking toward the future
While still reflecting upon the past

The books you’ll read, more defined
Ones which spark interests in thee
Displaying your etchings at galleries nearby
Becoming who You want to be

16… an age so important
Adulthood is well on its way
Good wishes in all future endeavors
The world, at your feet, it does lay

I Love Shrimp

I love shrimp
Oh how I love shrimp
Whether it be breaded
And deep fried
Or steamed
With melted butter
On the side
I love shrimp

Education

Education begins at birth
We start out learning
To eat and drink
Walk and talk
And what it means to be loved

A child entering school
Just beginning to learn
About language and math
Friendship… ourselves
And of innocent love

Now we’re reaching adulthood
We still can learn so much
College… career
Marriage and children
And love from heart to soul

Education even teaches at death
It’s when others learn to mourn
They’re ailing… health’s failing
Then sadness and tears
From loved ones, who’ve been left behind
