Luke Gallagher Poem
Our heads were filled with tales and covered with dust.
When did you change?
We used to play with marbles
and fly to a far off land.
Late at night,
a brim of fear
a feather of hope.
Away we fled from danger.
But you have grown old
and forgotten our promise
to remember my name
and bottle our youth.

Luke Gallagher Poem
Color green,
soft as she can be
wrapped in linen
but clothed with dignity.
With a beauty that was sudden
and a hand that was subtle.
Her heart can only be seen in the mirror,
and can only be felt with the breeze.

Luke Gallagher Poem
A kiss from the sun
in the warmest of gold,
fills my soul with hunger anew.
I dive into the deep
in waters of blue,
to quench my thirst for something more.
A hug from the breeze
in a valley of green,
carries my heart to a rapture above.
I jump from a cloud
to the black of the night,
to bury my heart right next to yours.

Luke Gallagher Poem
May I have this dance
on the floor of the unknown?
Will you help me row
deep into the sea of uncertainty?
And when the weather calms
and we both are still,
we will swim to the bottom
and hold our breath
until the clouds break
and the blood has washed.

Luke Gallagher Poem
The seasons were changing once more. With this, came a great storm. The
winds were strong and knocked me down. The rain stripped me of my
illusion. I lost my breath, and blacked out with the wake of reality.
Struggling, desperate to stand, my mind was stuck in reverse.
Held to the ground, I felt trapped. The thoughts in my head were not my
own, and the voice I spoke was unable to be heard. Though just my
freedom had been taken, it felt like my life was next. To stand seemed
unlikely. To speak seemed improbable. To fight seemed impossible.
But sometimes the cold touch of winter can be our great awakening.
I found that my obstacles were only as heavy as the weight I was giving
them. Falling down was a fresh start- a new foundation to build upon.
I thought I had lost myself, but how could I lose what I never had?
I will hold high in the lowlands and rest easy in the shadows. The storm
is almost through. I will not take a clear sky for granted. And, on even the
darkest of days- I will find light among the dark, warmth inside the cold,
and hope amidst the storm.

Luke Gallagher Poem
Rosemary does a lady proud.
If not for the faint aroma,
as nicotine and soft music
deliver a quiet invitation.
Her heart opens with the
door and allows a feeling
to grow,
a candle to be lit.
With the draw of the night,
a closing door,
she sets fire to
her insides.
The hint of desire is washed away.
Eclectic heartbreaks, but then,
maybe just daring lust
has paved such a road.
Beneath this roof is a world,
used to recreate-
a feeling found only
in dreams before.

Luke Gallagher Poem
Lonely as I
aimlessly drift
asking if now
wouldn't be best,
or surely later
rather than sooner
quietly moving
within my chest.
Frayed and torn
reaching for air
only to yield
a pleading cry,
what once was blue
has turned to black
as I gaze into
the hollow sky.

Luke Gallagher Poem
They say love is magical,
and I agree.
For something so strong,
so apparent, to dissolve
so quickly- it must be.
Just like that, there was
nothing.
No midnight words to
drown the sorrow.
No eager hug to ease
the pain.
No frozen kiss to form
the bridge to forever.

Luke Gallagher Poem
Two oaks dance to the
request of limitation.
Transparency befriends those
who fall short.
A capture of breath is
a cry for help.
She who opens the door
speaks so easy.
Middle ground is just
beyond reach.
A hand from the beloved
draws near but appears far.
Walk in the forest and
eat the fruit you long for.
Do not fear,
the good news has arrived.

Luke Gallagher Poem
I’m not sure if
the way we feel
has much to do with the way
the river runs.
But my transparencies
will soon be seen.
Gravity has held us down, but not back.
I’m doubtful it ever could.
