Brandy Rogers Poem
RISE UP FOR ME!!!
I never hear your laughter
No matter the depth of my plea
Your smile, your voice, your presence
Forever absent from my new reality!
Each day, I search for meaning
As to why you are gone
My questions never answered
Every minute, empty and long
Endless tears won't change a thing
I know because I've cried
Endless words won't bring you JUSTICE
I know because I've tried
No accountability, for my child's death?
Death by cop, the majority disagree.
Broken families, Stolen lives
They kill at will, we are no longer free!
Even if a jury finds them guilty
Very few years they will see
When they intentionally kill our children?
Exactly, why we respect taking a knee!
We visit our children at their grave
The pain we cannot flee
When cops kill at will, we hear our kids say, RISE UP FOR ME

Brandy Rogers Poem
The day you died, I was fully grown
A proud parent, with children of my own
All of me lost you, all of me cry
But 5 year old me, keeps asking "why"
That sweet little girl, you tucked in every night
That six year old, you taught to ride a bike
That eleven year old, you waved off to camp
That excited fourteen year old, getting dressed for the dance
That sixteen year old, that just learned to drive
That twenty year old, who lost her first child
The mother version of me is terrified
That you are not by my side
The grown me hurts, with nowhere to hide
It's not just me who lost you, but every girl I am inside
