The Other Man

It seems her heart is sectional
and the piece she's given me to hold
is only one of three
and though I know I'll never mean
more than one and two
I'm happy to be as close as I am to you

and in the eyes of the other man
I can see her reflection
smiling as he smiles
of my acceptance

I can't deny how good it'd feel
to be the holder of all three
but share your heart with them I will
cause I'm just glad to be
one of three
and though I know I'll never mean
more than one and two
I'm happy to be as close as I am to you

and in the eyes of the other man
I hope he sees her reflection
and smiles as she smiles
of my acceptance

It'll take time to be more
than just another man
to the other man
but I pray someday I'll be,
more than just the other man
as we become a family
'cause though I know I'll never mean
more than one and two
I'm just happy to be as close as I am to you

Quater Life B.C

I've spent a life time
basking in the shadows of turpitude
finding warmth in the coolness of night
where feeling sorry for myself
became the deterrent from my own absurdities
I searched for strength amongst the struggle
and saught relief through self mutilation
but all I found were broken images
of what I've dreamt myself to be
So I surrendered my life
wiped my eyes
cleaned up my arms
and began reconstructing my structure
I no longer seek shelter in solacement
and the chains that once bound me
no longer tie me into darkness
'for you've been defeated
and I've been forgiven
and with the quater mark
of my life vastly approaching
I will compliment my saviours success
by living!

Drew

These days things
just ain't the same without you
time has aged us
everything is changing
the new seems to only replace the old faces
with odd faces, and, cold places
I talk on ocassion to God
'bout your situation
but all it ever causes is complications
still you're the topic of our conversations
between me and Jason that we have some days
he misses you just as much as I miss you
but thinking of you is
still a sensitive issue, it
seems sinceless to explain in a sentence
how we feel about you both
with the words that we've written
and either via poem or song or both
man as long as you know
you'll never go unmentioned
though you made it home Drew
you're still our best friend
the brotherhood and bretheren
between three friends is
endless even when one's missin
as God as my witness
I pray that you're listening

Powers of Poetry

Poetry provides portrayals of people,
as a privileged peek of a portraits premier.
Either words of wisdom written with wonder
will welcome the withered and worn,
or blossom the buds of a beautiful being
and bless breath to the bitterly born.

Dream Catcher

Rest awhile
the day is at its end and you feel broken
and as tomorrow too seems hopeless
I will have opened up my arms to hold you
so close your eyes
pillow me
I'll be you dreamless slumber

I'll revise your revile
spill your secrets to the moonlight
kiss goodnight the tears worth while
and carry you through dawn
but if you tomorrow to should crumble
do so within my arms
so you don't lose any piece of who you are
then close your eyes
pillow me
I'll be your dreamless slumber

Chary

For as long as I can remember
I've never looked ahead
I've always walked with my head down
so I could place every step
I was often too cautious
to keep up with the pace
but though I fell behind
I've never fallen out of place
I've never held onto anything
when I felt any doubt
and I've never let go of anything
I couldn't do without
I've never shown a smile
I thought could be turned to a frown
and I've never stood up
when I could've ever been knocked down
I've never given up my heart
without the exchange of another
and I've never loved carefree
without the same from the other
'cause I've always been too affraid to fall
for what I had to lose
I've always been too affraid to fall
except inlove with you

Face Off

Mirror mirror
in awe of your reflection
why must you not reveal the heart of myself
tell me
who is this man who detest me
such a doleful expression on a familiar face
seems as though I've seen him before

Whisperer

One night while you were sleeping
I whispered softly into your ear
I told how much I loved you
but all there was for me to fear
I said someday I'd show you
just exactly how I feel
but until that day has come
I'll whisper softly into your ear

Perils

What is wrong will never be right
for we are not ones who can change the past
yet we try so hard to run from these perils
only to realize their memories last
although sometimes we try
and though sometimes it seems we do
we will never escape the horrors
that we often live through
