Figuratively

When my words rhyme
Oh how I love the crime
Such forgivable murder
Of words changing order

Tis not only sequence
For you have to make sense
Read between the lines
'Cause that's where the secret lies

Measure not the length
But comprehend the depth
Sometimes brevity
Outweighs vocabulary

Compare by simile
To show what it's like
Or use metaphor simply
As it directly imply

If synecdoche takes part from whole
Metonomy replaces it all
It uses symbol
For things compatible

Words rumble and jumble
As if to personify
Like humans palpable
Worth to exemplify

Don't misinterpret irony
Filled with incongruity
Discern the ambiguity
To reveal its mystery

The Pandemic

Staying home, I'm swamped in my handicraft
Paintings, drawings, all fascinating art
Sumptuous meals, I baked and cooked
My proud dish, I posted in facebook
Puzzles in my newsfeed, I proudly answered each
Idly, I enjoyed K-Drama and Netflix
.
But then outside, the world is in panic
People rant on their hungry stomachs
Sadly some leaders have turned their backs
Indeed in crisis, a man's true color is unveiled
Mother Earth is healing as global warming decreased
Yet people still suffer from their prolonged disease
.
Soldiers, health workers and all frontliners bravely
Risk their lives to ensure our safety
Time in time, crisis proves how humanity
Prevails when we are willing to share
A little sacrifice and life can be spared
But to myself I looked guilty and ashamed
.
Killing time as boredom strikes
A worse disease in disguise
Time passed, a stolen life unrecovered
As deadly as virus underestimated
The community may be in lockdown
But not the free limbs that can pound
.
Meals I cook to my delight
For my hungry neighbors became my plight
Relief goods I pack, my new found craft
To serve my brother became my pact
Novels and movie marathon I shun
In Qur'an, I found Thy guidance
.
This virus that steals life abruptly
Awakens the world that sleeps soundly
Time is short, if one can reflect
Perform one's ibadah sincerely and repent
When trials come, nobody's exempted
Weak or strong in faith, we are all tested
.
If today I die, I am truly scared
Not to a virus but to my deeds I'm afraid
My sins I plead for forgiveness
His mercy I know is boundless
And I pray this pandemic be over
Only to Him do we trust and turn over

Life

Lovely is the dawn
That starts my day of wonders
Though fog blurs my view

Waving in serene
Moist grass dripping yet daring
Then cast a shadow

Flows the torrid rays
From blazing sun at zenith
Flowers blossom forth

Behold fields and dale
Yonder are the butterflies
Flitting bough to bough

Hawks soar high azure
My flight never been as sure
Lest I am inured

Zephyr chills my skin
Slowly engulfing within
Fear better unknown

Nimbus fills the sky
Birds too reluctant too fly
Befallen to try

Rain but intervenes
Eroding mountains so steep
Wind keeps changing course

Freezing dewy day
Slumber amidst winter lease
Frogs hibernate deep

Bizarre lonely night
Stars dimming as creatures rest
Poets contemplate

Waxing gibbous scares
Only men with surreal thoughts
As hounds howl at night

Firefly still wanders
Unmindful of deep darkness
Man knows but regrets

Repentance

I’ve committed a sin
Such sin worth me disgraced,
Cursed, renounced and despised

To Him I confess this sin
With a vow not to repeat
This flaw that showed me defeat

Merciful He is
That I’m blessed with forgiveness
Such forgiveness I deserve less

But this ungrateful sinned once,
Twice and countless
I abuse the word forgiveness

Cause He is Merciful
I sinned unmindful
Strayed like a lost soul

Cold and hardened by sins
All I gained is emptiness
From what I thought was bliss

This sinner has none but remorse
Do I deserve another chance
For all these disobedience

This sinner who took no heed
Repented, cried and begged
For forgiveness I badly need

This sinner sincerely prayed
Never again be erred
Never again be strayed

He is Merciful indeed
So many times I sinned
Yet He forgives as if I have no misdeed

My sins may be great
Yet my Lord is Greater
Who loves and forgives the sincere

This sinner lived life anew
Made up for her past sins
At last I found peace

Dark Art

Hailed masterpiece
Coiled from desire
Kindled like fire
Of euphoric bliss

So high, you levitate
So far yet near to hallucinate
Distorted image, moving lines
Intricated to hate and despise!

A paradise bogus
Captivated in incubus
Drowned to the surreal
Of what seems so real

What can be more peril
Than rooted from core
Freed by the evil
Turning hands to gore!

Fools! Victims of a fad
Bewitched elated jack
To dark scheme clad
In hues of white and black

Break now the enchantment!
Asunder fake adornment!
Dangerous imagination
Only leads to deception..

Anonymous

Too ordinary when he walks
With men of drifting thoughts
Just so typical as he talks
To people filled with doubts

Like anybody when he writes
His words become confessions
Still too human as he scribes
The still unanswered questions

Might be unrecognized
‘Cause he conceals this humble being
Might be that so perplexed
Who’ll burst out this hidden feeling

Couldn’t stand the men
Whose hearts have harden
Couldn’t bear reality
That’s blurred with cruelty

Only rage fuels the pen
To melt those hearts so frozen
If only words can awaken
Those men who can’t be shaken

As pen glides a hymn
Ideas flow in rhythm
For every stroke is a story
Worth written testimony

If a painter has his colors
To change the world of dolor
Then a writer got his words
Even sharper than a sword

He only exists by a common name
That’s soon to hibernate in oblivion
He only writes not for fame
But to express this mawkish confessions

Black Hole

A void of darkness
Amidst the universe
Nothing emerges
No light can escape

A limbo vast yet weightless
Puzzling yet clueless
While scientist fascinate
Mad men hallucinate

Thy object of admiration
A force of gravitation
Forever a mystery
Worth earthing its history

Avatar

Why make up an identity
Even unknown to oneself
Tainted vague personality
Much to bewilder myself

You think you know me well
Still you can’t even tell
Can’t read between the lines
Of what’s hidden with all the lies

Been pressured hard enough
To say I must give up
Living up with expectation
That’s only filled with pretension

Been so much confused
Wish we could just refuse
To be somebody else
Before we lose ourselves

The Stranger

On a sly evening; alone
In my room, stood a man,
A furtive lad clad in black
Such comely look I’ve never seen

I gazed at him quite some time
Just to meet his outlawed eyes.
His gentle hands caressed my face
As he whispered words I barely hear.

“Who are you?” I curiously asked
“I’m the man of your dreams.”
He mockingly replied.
Apparently that hit my head.

Nay! I was almost taken away.
Out in delusion,
I’m back in my room,
Alone and startled from a dream.
