Derek Starks Poem
Look away.
Turn your head.
Don’t look at me,
For I’m not worth looking at.
Don’t put me in your pity.
Don’t feel sorry for me,
For I’m not worth that either.
I have bad self-esteem,
But in my dreams,
Do I realize,
That I could have a good self-esteem.
Take me in as your friend.
I will not betray you.
I feel good about myself.
I don’t need or want,
To look like anyone special.
I feel I look good in my own style.
This is only in my dreams.
I might act differently in public,
But inside I feel like I need,
To hide in a dark room.
Inside I am full of:
Jealousy,
Anger,
Sadness,
Loneliness,
And depression.

Derek Starks Poem
Point of No Return
The point of no return,
is a place where people burn.
I do not mean physically,
but mentally.
I have been there.
It is not a place that you can see with your naked eye.
It is a place that has no reason why.
The point of no return is the place
that you make believe in your head.
I place that is dead ahead.
The point of no return,
A place where your mind
makes more mistakes then it already has,
a place where you enemies rule over your allies,
a place where you are the laborer,
a place where all you can do is work,
No sleep,
No food,
No friendships,
Nothing.
A place where you are a miserable,
as you can be.
A place that you have no control,
of your body.
The point of no return.

Derek Starks Poem
When I am down,
When I am up,
When I am at a stand still,
When the roller coaster of my life is running,
My friends are there.
Most people don't understand,
When they do clearly.
Most people don't care,
When they do greatly.
Most people don't know,
when they do Intelligently.
Weather I am on the Raging Bull,
Or the Kiddie Coaster,
They are there.

Derek Starks Poem
People look,
but do not see.
People hear,
but they do not listen.
People touch,
but they do not feel.
I sit here in this place of mystery.
I sit here and wonder,
why life is such a secrecy.
I sit here and listen to the thunder.
I stay here unseen.
I stay here unheard.
I stay here unfelt.
I stay here unknown.
Life is full of pouts.
Life is full of secrets.
Life is full of doubts.
Life is full of bets.
Bets on life.
Bets on money.
Bets on men.
Bets on women.
No matter what life brings,
I'm always prepared.
No matter what life brings,
I'm never scared.

Derek Starks Poem
Listen!
Can you hear it?
Can you hear you mind?
Can you hear you conscience?
Can you hear it?
If you can listen to what it is saying.
You should know what is good and what is bad.
Do the good things that it tells you to do.
Don’t try to ignore it.
My conscience told me to do many things.
Some good,
Some bad,
And some that could go either way.
I did most of the good things.
Although I did do some of the bad things,
I have done many things in the life that I have had so far.
You could try to out do me in doing things,
But I will probably beat you some time down the road.
I am not proud of some of the thins that I have done,
But I have done them.
I have been punished for the bad things.
I also have been forgiven for most of them.
I am good at doing bad things,
but so is everyone else.
It is the good things that are the challenge.
That is why I say life is always a challenge.
You should live it your fullest and try to do good things,
And try to keep from doing the bad ones.
