James Haley Poem
I know where you’ve been
You’re not alone
Walking through doors
Looking for signs
I know where you’ve been
You’re not alone
Room full of noise
Quiets the mind
I know where you’ve been
You’re not alone
Open your eyes
And you will find
You’re not alone
Anymore

James Haley Poem
Did you ever feel out of place
Were you the only one in the room
Not faith, sex, root, or race
Had to do with this gloom
You say something no one heard
With eye’s staring through your face
You dare not utter a single word
Did you ever feel out of place
As if they want you to fail
As if they want you to loose
Such a feeling of utter pale
Is this the place that you choose
If you leave this situation
No one would even know you were there
But since you have no real temptation
You use valor instead of flair
Did you ever feel out of place
No place for man to be
No soul’s true space
Move on there’s more to see

James Haley Poem
Sports is such a crazy mess
All that wasted time watching your team
But if they win you’ll feel your best
It's crazy how it can affect your scheme
Maybe four hours watching the set
at the game, in the arena, in the stands
And all these crazies are willing to bet
Their team will win so strike up the band
I don’t know why we scream and yell
Over effortless athletic moves
Do you think these guys would ring the bell
For fans eating hotdogs and drinking booze
With all the money these players get
To work four months a year
And everyone just spends and frets
Hey vendor “I’ll have a beer”
Sports is such a crazy mess but I like it anyway
Especially when we get a little older
Its easier to watch then play

James Haley Poem
You can catch a fish at the lake I know
Or an aromatic breeze from the pines
Or chop wood if you must
Maybe you’d rather bask in the sunshine
Relax in the shade for a while then
With a cool glass of lemonade
Listen to the loons on the water
Squelching their serenade
Try your luck with a pole on the dock at dusk
Hold tight—a big one out there
Reminisce at night over coffee by the fire
Telltales of the fish you spared
Snuggle in at night and take a deep breath
The air is always fresh at the lake
And hopefully by tomorrow morn
You’ll be greeted by a sun-filled daybreak

James Haley Poem
Cold are the snakes that sliver thru the tall grass
Quietly patiently they wait
Unaware is the prey that walks through its fields
Carelessly open to it’s fate
They meet at the crossroads
surprised is the prey
Then relaxed for the smile the snake gives
They speak for a moment then the prey gives a pet
SNAP! A victim, a climax. the mood lives
Poor little person fights for the rights
To pick itself up from its lows
Others prepare and calculate the moment
For that’s how the story goes
The snake licks its chop, the victim runs away
It didn’t give blood this time
Ho hum says the snake there’s one born everyday
I’ll be waiting for you next time

James Haley Poem
Autumn mood
Rustling trees
Leaves of brown
Scattering the streets
Soft melancholy
Lonely cold
Autumn mood
Standing bold
Seasons end
Shortened sun
Autumn mood
Chill mood begins

James Haley Poem
A record of how it is
May suggest how it will be
A record of how it was
Shape how you’ll perceive
In this world of information
In this recorded time of day
You can review the situation
And receive a little say
I’d rather not know how it would end
Even if history repeats itself once more
I’d rather create something new
Then bow to its rule
Don’t close your mind to its thoughts
Nor your soul to its dreams
For it creates what you have meant
And that’s been all to you and me

James Haley Poem
The river flows
We follow its turns
Through rapids and rocks
Its energy burns
It takes us where
It mercifully goes
With calming straits
The river flows
Lakes are found
Their beauty grows
With shores abound
From rocky rows
From still to force
It roams to the sea
The river flows
Like you Like me

James Haley Poem
I’m a wanderer by design
I meander about the town
Not trying to refine anything
Just spreading my life around
Just looking for conversation
I smile to break the ice
For me that’s how it flows
I wander around in life
No path to trace me from
Or course to follow me from
I listen talk and laugh about
Anything that might become
Yes I’m a wanderer by design
And of course I drift away
I guess one day I’ll hang a sign
“Done wandering here to stay”

James Haley Poem
I’m older
Traveled well
Slowing some
I can tell
Appreciate
Compromise
Laughing more
Increased in size
Youthful pose
Playful style
Aching bones
Longer mile
Smart enough
Not to know a lot
Secure enough
With what I got
Chances are
It’s been spent
I’m older now
That’s where it went
Forward moving
Yesterdays done
Time for life
To bear me a son
Flowers rest
Where beauty glows
Upon your face
And soft eyes
I’m older
Traveled well
Slowing some
I can tell
