The Substance

You will give all that you own, to have my kiss of pain.
Smiling joy of wonder and tears of bitter rain.

I make the woman rebellious;I make the man turn weak.
The children, every hour, is a harvest, which I reap.

You let me in your memories and before you, I keep your past.
Your secret is not hidden that your love for me grew fast.

I have brought you wealth and I have brought you friends.
Soon, I will bring you enemies, just to see who wins.

What you do, with what, and who. For they are just the same as you.
Out for a high and ready to kill. Numbing the pain until there is no feel.

I will take you where you would not plan to go, as your light of life grows dim.
Darkness of death becomes your friend, with no conscience left within.

If you use me, then it is me, you choose to serve.

Then, you can be rich in the poorest of ways,
as a reward of my love in return.
