Why There Are Stars

While there is a sun to light up the day
And a moon for sight at night,
I wonder why there are stars,
So numerous, that fills the sky?
Is it there as a screen
To veil the vacant vast,
Lest you feel lost in the night!
Or is it there for a lonely traveler
To play the game of dots,
Finding the preset pattern they make.
Or perhaps they're there to make a rude look,
That a pride woman’s diamond look fake!
Or may be there, just to set an Engineer in awe –
“What glued those flickering lights up there
That they never fall!”
Or perhaps to whisper to an abandoned child in sleep,
That there are thousands of loving eyes, up here,
Watching him and wishing him ‘sweet dreams’.
Or perhaps they are there to carry God’s loud voice
To that youngster who lost heart,
That, “Life is great! and dreams have no dead end!,
Come on dear, soar up high
Shine as a star, whose twinkles never end”.

The Last Day of the Year

‘Tis the last day of the year
Got it’s own remarks to bear;
Children this day ye don’t despise,
The day God made has got it’s price:
The day to settle the Year’s account
For God’s love so plenty bound,
Feeling sorry for the mistakes done –
Sometimes with hatred, sometimes for fun,
A day with awesome feelings bound
Of crossing the past safe and sound,
The Earth it’s finish line to reach
With joyous, victorious leap,
And Our hearts filled with gratitude
To thank the maker for the multitude,
Waiting to enter the New Year
With joyous hope, with God near.

Smile Is So Contagious

A smile is so contagious,
Is so contagious, they say.
Even through the nook and corner
To the heart it finds a way.
And from the heart, straight to the lips
It always makes a fair play,
And then to the other,
And then to the other,
It spreads like a fire
In the hay!
Joy and energy
It carries far and wide
Without a buffer, across the bay.
And now I have sent you one,
Hope it reached,
Have a nice day!:)

Home Sweet Home

Home sweet home, my blue home -
Prettiest, loveliest, awesome;
Hither and thither search ye,
Can like Earth another Home be?

Rocking rivers, mighty mounts,
Roaring seas with dark mysteries bound,
Misty valleys, dusty deserts,
Lightning and thunder – ‘power twins’, they assert.

Green trees towering tall and short,
Enriching the eyes and heart
Soothing the soul with bright, fragrant flowers,
Home for birds, fruits for power.

Flying-singers, making melody sweet,
Flapping their wings, the dawn they greet;
Colorful butterflies’ fluttering-fair
In the golden rays fill joy in the air.

Golden shiny sun at noon
And to guard the night, the moon
And the silvery stars at night
Give an awesome treat to sight.

Majestic beasts that mark their domain,
Gentle herds within their reign,
Some with wit their existence feign,
All under the canopy of nature remain.

But now, the rivers that once rocked
Are effluent poisoned and with garbage blocked;
The streams that encountered valleys and farms
Now encounters suffocating plastic swarms.

The once rain-fed lusty green fields
Have now grown frail to give healthy yield
As every now and then they’re drained
In fertilizers’ and pesticides’ chemical rain.

The breeze that slipped sweet song in our ears,
Is intoxicated with smoke that brings tears;
Each one with his vehicle had done
His part of adding to air, pollutants.

Alas! Friend, don’t forget,
Be cautious, I surely bet,
Hither and thither search ye,
Like Earth another Home can’t be!

Peace

Though the clouds are gloomy dark,
Though the tempest rage my ark,
Thou shall still my darkness seize,
At Thy word the storm shall cease,
I shall still press on at ease,
Thou shall grant me silent peace.

Mistake

A mistake is a lesson learnt well
From the experiments done ourselves,
The result of which lies in our hands
Whether to continue or make amendments.

Poem

A poem is not just a piece of art,
But an Angel who slips quiet
With his magical wings,
Energising the weary spirit and soul,
And the lines to our heart he sings
Makes stronger echoes
Captivating heart in his strings….

Don'T Think Too Much

Sometimes we think and think and think!
Better we buck up and do something.
