Marriage

In the word "marriage",
you won't find the letter "I",
but you will find "us".

A Thought On Thankfulness

Just as there are the stars that twinkle in the sky
so many thousand cars from work are rushing by.
Too many things to do, a way of life engraved,
that hours to peer are few and work makes us a slave.

Do ever you relax to think of air we breathe
or of the trees perhaps, the things we rarely see?
Have ever you heard birds, and can you count their calls?
Well, in so many words, we don't think this at all!

The point is only this: How busy we can be
that all that does exist, our eyes can fail to see!
Sometimes it pays to stop, be thankful for a gift
for in such grateful thoughts, we may just find a lift!

Spring Morning

Refreshing scent of dew upon the grass,
Warm and humid as the sun is rising,
Songbirds singing melodies of morning,
Beautiful blooms upon the garden bed.

Invigorating drafts of Folgers in the air,
Comfy covers keeping sleepers warm,
Dawn passing soft welcome through the home,
Sleepy eyes awakening once again.

To live this spring morning.

Writer's Block

In the corner of his studio,
three stories high above the street,
a view of the city
where sun rises on undying population.
Regulars amidst daily routine
mixed in with unfamiliar faces.
Tens of thousands of tales untold,
several hundred added daily.
In verses their lives are painted,
his only canvas being a notebook.
Expressions never fail him
as long as he lives on
a writer's block.

Another Year

An anniversary, to mark another year
we celebrate by waves. I'm glad to have you here.
How beautiful, my love. Your laughter says it too.
How happy that I feel to live my life with you.
It is upon the sand, this very pretty day
That all the words I spoke, a vow my lips did say.
It is my greatest hope another year to be
For I do love you now and for eternity!

Imagine a Better World

Can you imagine a better world,
one without pain,
one without war?
One where young men won't go to battle
unsure of what they're fighting for?

Can you imagine a world like this:
one without sickness
and disease?
One without hospital bills and nurses,
one in which we can rest with ease?

Can you imagine a world of peace,
one without badness,
one without crime?
One where no longer will you need keys
or anyone fear being robbed all the time?

Can you imagine a world where we'll live
even forever
without death,
one where never again will we wonder
what we'll do with the days we have left?

The truth, you see,
is not far off -
one at which people
laugh and scoff.
Men can embrace
this hope if they try
to imagine a better world
in God's eyes.

If Ever

If ever I should find
a decent woman for my heart,
then I would give her loving
that we'd never have to part.

If ever she would smile,
Would be one that I adore.
She'd never have to wonder
If her smiles please me more.

If ever she does cry,
how quickly I would wipe her tears!
For she deserves a husband
who would comfort all her fears.

If ever she would ask
that I would leave or that I'd stay,
I would assure her feelings
that I'll love her every day.

If ever...

Cry With Me

Cry out every single tear
upon my shoulder,
all your desperate emotions,
burdens, chains that paralyze,
let them loose with every drop.
They're replaced by hug, in love's embrace.
Flood frustrations from within,
anxiety that screams for some release
since I will carry them myself
and I will care for you forever.

When Time Was Young

I remember playing in the grassy fields
when time was young and skies were bright,
picking berries in the patch behind our house,
enjoying youth to my delight.
I remember learning lessons with my sister
like how to live, to love, to share.
How little did I know that time was young
and that my mind would travel there.
I remember meeting children in the park,
the ones with whom I would play games.
They were but mere humans in my eyes and
we were all one and the same.
Now time's grown old and things have shifted greatly,
earth itself has changed its face.
Days of innocence have flown by quickly,
such joys themselves have been replaced.
I'll remember in the not too distant future,
which its coming won't be long,
just what it felt like living in that era,
when I believe that time was young.
