Fashion

I have all these magazines, what did they teach me?
Rags collecting dust in a pile beneath me
paint splattered down my body - eccentricity
it excites me, moreover it revolts me
what would they say if i adorned them indefinitely?
then you know who I am, what I was born to be
but this cloth isn’t a product of my creativity
i am what you are and what they claim to be
always with one eye on the damned hierarchy
pick it up pass it on it’s tiring being free

rat race, faster pace catching up with me
blinded by hunger for futile individuality
but each day the face of anonymity
rears its blessed head for only I to see
when the rags of the riches are like gold dust to me
pick it up pass it on it’s tiring being free

insignificant
i’m lost in this universe
a footnote in time

Who I Am

for fearing judgement
never allows me to stray
from the beaten path

A New World

distance is a virtue
fear untouchable
a healthy mind, uncluttered
the freedom of a child

She is here, with patience
knowledge acquired
a dreamlike state
with a deepening fear of sleep

an arrival always imminent
yet feeling out of reach
belonging nowhere is hard to be
until she discovers a class of her own

peace lying within
holding hands with gratitude
calamity slowly siezes
a dawn is breaking

at last, clarity
vision beyond mountains
a sensual awakening
through unspoken power

a woman, she is I
a lingering encounter
i know she will not falter
the door is ready to be opened

and outwards she will step
into a new world
a fine, new world

Middle Child

you find light in a parasite
and i don’t like your taste all that much
but i’m stained to you like a henna tattoo
one that’s course to the touch

bittersweet is the word on the street
but I know sour is more your style
now I’m inundated and aggravated
by a nature so hostile

you said when I lose that you’ll sing me the blues
well i’m still standing, my friend
now we continue to peruse the same avenues
home to conflict foreseeing no end

you’re only amused when i’m feeling bruised
and that’s the character i despise
but i think you’re consumed by a feeling that looms
from the human behind the eyes

spare me time and with that I’ll spare you mine
but without frivolity in view
you can’t hold me aloof under the same roof
because like the rain I’m stuck with you too

The Final Petal

I’m anchored to you like an ancient root
I don’t escape but pull on your side
there’s a comfort lying here in our dormant love
and some days I float weightless there

let us sideways step into another tired year
the dimming light will halt for a moment
and the warmth of a flame will endeavour
to strengthen my patience once more

where solidarity blooms then weight will wither
and the ground is our new home
memories disintegrate and drift downstream
where desire remains a dream state

can you pull me up when I’m wearing thin?
can your kindness overthrow it all?
I know I will need you when the clock strikes one
and it repeats until the final petal falls

Proximity

When we dream of distant shores
we overlook the beauty
sitting right before our eyes

Income

Shake me awake
I swear I have been gone far too long
Consumed by my own consumption
Does that make me a part of something?

Maybe comfort is lying somewhere in my possession
but not in one that I possess just yet
Time will tell but time is waiting for no-one
how easy I find that to ignore

There is always something left to achieve
but with an ever-changing focus
more and more to see but our own vision fading
now we see through the eye of lust

Purchase if you please
Dispose as you please
No need to ask please
Someone somewhere is begging please

The Buzz

The buzz is not one to creep upon you
but to make his presence more than apparent
there is no turning your back and walking away
there is no door to close in his face

you can always drown him out a touch
a muffled existence with a permanent residence
but he comes biting once the music ends
replay again, replay again

The Act

dreaming about nothing much
in a life between the confines
in a state so hazy it trips me up
and catches me in the frontline

then life drifts past as I watch from the back seat
time rolls by in a flurry of words
catching the act that she never did play
catching the act the one of dismay

you heard my song - that's my call to you
and I'm already feeling out of tune
i'll show you it was rosy yesterday
now i'm catching the act the one of dismay
