I Am An Addict With a Pen

I am an addict with a pen
I have a trouble in the past
Past relationships
Past brokenness
Brokenness inspires me
Brokenness motivates
Motivates my writing
Motivates my actions
Actions speak louder than words
Actions are most important
Important thoughts
Important words
Words are only spoken from a human mouth
Words are only letters on a piece of paper
Paper to journal my thoughts
Paper to talk through my emotions
Emotions are what stop my words from flowing
Emotions come in waves
Waves of riots
Waves of depression
Depression aches in my heart
Depression can be constant
Constant heartbreak
Constant pain
Pain is temporary
Pain will go away
Away from you
Away from your thoughts
Thoughts can kill
Thoughts can heal
Heal you from your brokenness
Heal you from your addiction

My Heart Is the Only One Guilty

My mind is racing.
My dreams are defacing.
Everyday is the same,
Every night is a shame.
I need to continue bracing.

My nightmares and fears are interlacing.
My heart needs a gracing.
No one can take blame,
My heart is the only one guilty.

I need a sad songs embracing,
Or an artist’s tracing.
I need something soothing for me to be tame,
Except nothing can take me away from my grame.
Nothing in this world has been the cause of my souls aching.
My heart is the only one guilty.

Where Light and Darkness Meet

Where light and darkness meet
That’s where you’ll find me.
My voice is breaking,
But I know that you can hear
Every word that I speak.
My eyes are looking towards you.

I’m constantly thinking about how you
Would always want to meet
Me outside of church and the words you’d speak
Were too much for me.
I was worried someone would overhear,
But there was only some strong wind around that would make the trees break.

I don’t think you know what it feels like to have a heart break.
I will not accuse you,
But I want you to hear
The wind howling and the trees breaking and think of the first time we met.
What did you first think of me?
I know you’d rather not speak.

The trees speak
And say that there’s only a matter of time before the earth will break.
I wish you would be like the trees and think of the earth as if it were me.
I always think of you.
Let’s go outside to meet
Because the wind begs to hear.

I want to hear
All of the lies you speak.
Where light and darkness meet
There my heart will break.
Why can’t you
Learn to love me?

The trees lean against me.
The wind always hears
All of my complaints about you.
The trees speak
And they are telling me that you’re about to break
Right where light and darkness meet.

Every night the wind howls at me, and then I can hear the words you speak.
I wish you could hear me and listen to all of the tree branches break,
But you can’t when all that you ever do is wait for the light and darkness to meet.

Trapped

You hold the universe in your hands, you hold my heart in your infinite embrace.
Yet, my soul still doesn’t know it’s place.
This planet I’m living on is nothing but a micro-environment.
Release me from this earthly imprisonment.

You see all the galaxies in this universe and beyond.
Still, I wait for You to respond.
My voice is nothing but a dissonance.
Release me from this earthly imprisonment.

You are in everything we could ever imagine and more.
But, my soul is continuing to remain at war.
I beg You to make Your love immanent.
Release me from this earthly imprisonment.

Lilac Dreams

Lilac skies are over our heads,
Our hope is tighter than a thread,
But we keep breathing and knowing.
Our fears might continue growing,
But love will never stop showing.
We soon will keep undergoing,
We must never begin slowing,
Down our minds ideas flowing.
Galaxies wait for us ahead,
Make sure nothing is left unsaid.

Depression

Dealing with depression
Is like having a gray cloud follow you around.
Every move you make feels like you’re in slow motion.
Because even when you try,
It feels as though you’re falling.

The madness races between your thoughts
And the world constantly feels like it’s going to end.
The burdens on your shoulders are anything but light.
The smile on your face doesn’t match the sadness in your heart.
Even when everyone sees you,
You constantly feel alone.

Your mind is beautiful,
Even though you may not believe it.
You love to feed off of the lies you are told,
But none of those compare to the immense truth
That you are too scared to face.

Nighttime Prayers

Every thought appears in my head at nighttime.
There’s no dreaming, only thinking.
Because nighttime is my time
To think about if my soul is sinking.

Nighttime is the only time I have to pray.
I pray for my bad thoughts to go away,
And I pray for my mind to stop racing.
The Lord knows what I’m facing.
