I Remember

I remember the scents of the autumn breeze.
I hated that autumn breeze.
It brought so many bad memories.

I remember the music from that time frame.
It is hard to love the music you loved back then.
It just brings so much shame.

I remember the feeling of humidity pressing against my poor red cheeks.
The pain I felt back then had to of lasted for weeks.
I hate the humidity, it brings back the hard times.

I remember the years of my sixth grade year.
Those days were filled with disappointment and tears.
Don’t take me back, I will do anything.

(This is an I Remember poem. I Remember was not an option.)

The Human Mind

Eternity; it’s a concept our mind cannot perceive.
It begins when a little bird wears down a marble the size of the earth with its little wing 1000 times.
People's thoughts; something that not even 100 percent of our brains understand.
An endless night, miles of stars, beyond the universe; no matter how far we look, we are not going to gain that ability
A perfect world; our simplistic thoughts and ideas will never interpret this idea
Before the world said, “chaos is my best friend” it was a Lion in a battlefield, there was an infinite spectrum of possibilities, but now, the thought of that is quite unimaginable.
Love life; our intentions are different than our needs. Therefore, we will never understand until we find the right one.
Love is a camera, full of memories. Love is an ocean that runs miles wide. Love is a boat floating on the sea and can only be broken if the ship is sinking down. It cannot be sunken until someone throws little stones at it, quite like words. Love is a flute continually played. The beautiful, fluent, flowing sounds of love begin to fade after a while.
Thoughts; nobody can explain why they occur.
Thoughts are a storm, loud but unexpected. Storms are sometimes expected, but that's only if you predict them. Same with thoughts. Ideas are wings and are always in motion, moving with the wind like clouds. They are in one place at one time but then disoriented in a split second. The way the wind moves shape the clouds into a whole different figure- just the same with people’s actions.
Attitudes; yet another thing we cannot understand. Why can some be so happy and some so sad?
Some have anger bottled up inside and have a thin sheet of trust while some have blankets made of hope that they sleep with every night. Some are sailing on a sea of uncertainty and use their sea of umbrellas to cast away other people's shade. Some decide to walk the plank and end their lives.
Phrases are the worm on a hook that you cast into the river. You can catch a fish, but you can’t get the bait back.

Sea of Uncertainty

Do you know what I hate?
I hate the night time.
It’s so lonely and dark.
Nobody ever goes out during the dark.
They stay secluded.
That’s what my mind does.
Because of you, my mind is secluded.
It is stranded on the island of disparity and loneliness.
It is scared to escape because It does not know anything different.
It’s scared that if it ventures out and tries something new, It will just get hurt again.
Every time is sails out into that sea of uncertainty, it just gets put back into the same place.
I used to be told,
“Manipulation of the mind manipulates the mind over time.”
Now I tell myself that when I think about you.

Darkness Through the Window

I look out the window and I see a little bird
Who is relaying back to me everything I have heard.
He is carrying with him a little worm
What he is about to tell me will affect me long-term.

I look to the right and I get a great fright
What I see is darker than night.
It´s coming after me, oh I must hide!
But I can´t, It has already stolen my pride.

I look to the left and I believe I see a theft
It stole my heart and left me bereft
Please let me to realize I can get through this on my own
But I really just want to be known, that´s it.

I Miss You Grandma

I bloomed into the person I am from a little seed that you planted.
You were the water; you quenched my thirst and took care of all my needs.
The voices I heard coming from my head always chanted and chanted,
¨she´s still here, this can´t be.¨
Now all I have to remember you are these prayer beads you left behind.
You are departed, but I know that your love for me is just started.
You taught me how to love the Lord above.
Every year to remember the date you passed, I visit your grave like a mourning dove.
These things happen all the time,
the cancer that took your life was an organized crime.
August 1st will always run through my mind,
but when that date comes, I feel so confined.
I miss you.
And all because of you, I have grew.

The Curse

This witch has cast a curse.
I was left watching things steadily turn worse.
Everything used to be so interesting, but now nothing intrigued me.
I woke up one morning and I felt so fatigued.
I couldn’t control it, you know I tried.
I seemed happy from outside but on the inside I cried.
I was mentally distraught,
I tried to get rid of you, I fought and I fought.
They tried giving advice,
But trusting you from the beginning was a sacrifice.
I told myself I would never be the same
And that you were the one to blame.
But things of the past have been carried away with the breeze.
I believe manipulation itself is a deadly disease.
When I look into someone’s eyes, eyes aren’t all I see.
I see someone who’s roots go deeper than a fig tree.
No matter how much they wind attempts to tear them from the ground,
They they stand up and turn around.

Constructing Courage

From a young age, these words meant nothing to her, but she knew that they were trying to attack her in some way.
She couldn't just piece them together quite yet.
As her mind matured and she became more understanding on the harsh society, the stones finally hit her.
They brought her down.
She was aside of herself.
She couldn't pick herself back up.
She was weak.
She didn't understand what the world was doing to her.
She never understood people when they said that time would heal.
She didn't understand why.
She didn't understand her purpose.
Then, one day as more and more stones began to pile up in front of her, she gained some courage.
Putting the past and every phrase she had ever heard behind her back, she grabbed each stone one by one and built her own shield.
She felt so strong.
She felt so empowered.
She felt so independent.
After constructing her shield, she used the leftover stones to build a monument.
That monument meant the world to her.
It was who she was.
That monument was her heart.
And it all made sense.

Punchline

The first thing I heard you say
wasn’t directed toward me
somehow
it drew me in like a frail fish on a thin fishing line
Your actions slowly progressed from tender to aggressive
The months turned into a punchline;
they ended quickly, but seemed to last forever an eternity
I take the world “punchline” to heart-
you lifted your last PUNCH at the fishing LINE that i was drawn in on
It snapped
somehow
i was drawn back in again, and again, and again...
months seemed to last years
I was only getting weaker
Feelings faded
I built up the courage to look at you one last time
then...
i took a leap of faith
I jumped off the dock
into a different pond
I slowly gained my fins back
I found a strength I had never known
now there is no need for a punchline-
the story of me and you may of ended,
but the everlasting memories will never take a leap of faith
they are here to stay
in my mind
forever
and ever
and ever...

The Past Is the Present

"The past is not I"
said the guy
trying to let go
of what once got him by

"The past is I"
said the girl
trying to hold on
to what once made her mind whirl

"The present is not I"
said the guy
as he changed
letting his eyes drain until he had no more tears left to cry

"The present is I"
said the girl
as she refused to change
she grabbed the barrel and gave it a whirl

The guy is here
the girl was overwhelmed with fear
the guy is well managed
the girl is vanished
