I Will Walk Again

By David J. Materazzi

Laying in bed
Can't stand or walk
The day has come
No more talk.

I see it in my mind
I feel it in my heart
I took the first steps
Now that's a start.

It's time to get up
It's time to get on my feet
No more giving up
Until my goal is complete.

I need to do this
It's been way too long
I promise you my love
Walking next to you is where I belong.

Dont give up on me
I won't give up on you
Together we can
See this whole thing through.

One day very soon
We will walk together hand in hand
With some work
I promise I will stand.

The American Flag

The American Flag, is red, white and blue
To you, I salute, this is what I do.

The American Flag, you stand so free
To you, I salute, with love from me.

The American Flag, nicknamed Old Glory
To you, I salute, a flag with a story.

The American Flag, you changed over the years
To you, I salute, with a song and music to our ears.

The American Flag, we display you with pride
To you, I salute, your true colors we do not hide.

The American Flag, what can I say
To you, I salute, each and everyday.

The American Flag, raised by a rope
To you, I salute, you give us hope.

Better Days Are Coming

We might not be rich
we might not be poor
Happy with what we have
but we ask for more

Nothing too expensive
nothing too cheap
Something for our pockets
so we can get some sleep

We need food on our table
and gas in our car
What we have in the bank
won't get us very far

Having each other
that's what counts
Clipping coupons
and getting discounts

Lighting a few candles
instead of the lights
Not having a heater
on those very cold nights

Better days are coming
just wait and see
I promise you that
my family

If a Dog Could Speak

When I was a puppy
I used to run and play

15 years later
Now I sit and lay

I do not bark
and I do not bite

I love going for walks
and I sleep all night

Take me for a ride
and I will sit and look

I only eat dog food
nothing from a cookbook

Buy me a leash
Buy me a toy

Give me some bones
and I will jump with joy

Living Together

We moved in together,
Sharin' a place with
someone you love and know.

It's hard paying the bills
and paying the rent.
Trying to understand,
where all of our money went.

I check the mail
when I come home everyday.
Hopin' and prayin',
that theres no more bills to pay.

We have gas,electric
and heat.
We have soda and food,
including meat.

We have water and phone,
and Cable TV.
It's so nice at night,
just her and me.

Its tough at first,
but I want to make a change in my life.
I've asked her to become my wife.

Losing a Loved One

Never lost a loved one before
They tell you to move on
When they don't even know your pain
Emptiness is what I have inside
Why must this happen to me
I can't live like this
But I chose not to give up

Without my loved one
Without my soul mate
The nights are lonely
But I will be ok
I must be strong
In time my pain will fade
But now I must deal with it
Can't say goodbye so fast
Must take it slow
Our love for each other will always remain

A Son's Answer

It's ok Mom and Dad
please be happy and don't be sad

Look up in the sky and what do you see
into the clouds, you'll see an image of me

I might have left you but I'm still here
being forgotten, I do not fear

I know you love me and I love you
being taken away from you hurts me too

Whatever happened it's over now
I will find a way to be with you someday and somehow.

I'm in heaven and he's taking care of me
Say a little prayer for me.

The Fallen Soldier

There he lies with wounds so deep
hurt from a blast from his jeep.
A man who fought for his country
so we the people today could be free.

The sound of gun shots near by
taking cover he hopes to try.
Waiting for his band of brothers
he hopes to survive like many others.

Whats a soldier suppose to do
when he fights for someone like me and you.
He stands his ground and does not walk away
checks his weapon and waits for his prey.

He crawls thru the field on his knees
he comes upon a few enemies.
They lay their weapons down one by one
they beg for mercy as he yells to run.

He drops his weapon to his side
he whispers "Enough men have already died."
He begins walking and searching for his platoon
knowing his survival is limited very soon.

He hears a sound that's just over the hill
he moves slowly in for the kill.
He looks into his scope surprised to see
his platoon and a few enemies.

He walks to them with blood in his face
turns around as he yells,"Let's get out of this place."

My Secret Love For You

I have something to tell you
but it's hard to say
You see, I have a secret
something I must tell you today

It started years ago when we were young
but I was afraid to tell you
You see, I have a secret
My secret love for you

Many years have gone by
should have told you this from the start
You see, I have a secret
you are still in my heart

I hope you understand why I told you this
I hope I can still be friends with you
You see, I have a secret
My secret love for you

Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather
 by David J.Materazzi
    June 2010

I walk thru the puddles
getting wet to the bone.

Stopping for a coffee
there I sit all alone.

Looking out the window
watching the falling rain.

Can't decide if it's worth
all of this anger and pain.

It hurts like lightning
when it strikes my heart.

But I still love her
and nothing can keep us apart.

Thunder, lightning and rain
which comes from the heavens above.

Shares the same effects
with us with true love.
