From Hello To Goodbye

Life's full of phrases
And life's full of words
But few mean as much
As these two little words

Both can make a heart smile
Or leave you drowning in tears
Its what happens between them
That's not always clear

The first one is the beginning
With the last one we cry
It depends on the between
From hello to goodbye

From hello to goodbye
Can be such a short time
Like a precious child taken
Too early in life

It can hide many mysteries
Or it can all be a lie
Its what happens between them
From hello to goodbye

You can't sum it all up
With just a sentence or two
Cause the important part
Is how it concludes

Each chapter that's written
Leading up to the end
Reflects on the first line
Back to where it began

From hello to goodbye
Is the circle of life
If you ponder on it
It can make you think twice

We were all given free will
To live as we please
So make the most of it all, enjoy every fall
And shoot for your dreams

From hello to goodbye.....

My Best Friend

Dog is God spelled backwards
The purest form of love
And if you've had a furry friend
You'll know what I speak of

You came into my life
Giving love that had no end
You'd greet me with your wagging tail
Whenever I came in

You had all kinds of nicknames
Like Bubba and ornery boy
You chewed up all the toys I gave
You brought me years of joy

You left without a warning
You were always full of life
I'm sure you got the wings you earned
When God came for you that night

Time will never lessen
The tears that fill my eyes
For when I think of you
My furry little guy

I'll go on through this life
Always missing my best friend
Any man would be so lucky
To have so true a friend

And if Heaven holds my mansion
When I open of its doors
My furry friend I'll meet and greet
We'll never part no more

The Empty Window

There's a paw print and a nose streak still on the pane
Your toy lays there so quiet with no one to play
My heart breaks but I know that you're in a much better place
As I reflect on all of our walks we took down the lane

Some say a bridge waits for you near a perfect rainbow
There's few things that bring pain like an empty window
You sat there looking out whenever I'd go
Then show your loyalty with kisses when I came back home

The pain of the waiting and watching you go
Reminds us just how fast young life grows old
Your memories bring smiles yet we want you to know
We'll forever be saddened by the empty window

Let Me Love You From Afar

I don’t get to see your smile
When you walk in through the door
Now a million heartaches later
I’m still expecting more

I know time will never change me
Cause it hasn’t changed me yet
So why’s my mind want to make sure
I keep living with regret

Let me love you from afar
Since I can’t get close to you
You’re out of sight but in my heart
Let me love you from afar

If you wonder where I’ve been
I’m trying to make sense of this
For every dream I’ve had of us
There’s been at least another wish

Now my every waking hour
Reminds me what it’s like to lose
There’s a scar inside my heart
Let me love you from afar

Let me love you from afar
Since I can’t get close to you
You’re out of sight but in my heart
Let me love you from afar

What’s a soul without its mate
What’s forever without fate
Why’m I left here to wait, hell sits just outside the gate
Every second your away

Let me love you from afar
Let me love you from afar
You’re my sunshine and the stars
Let me love you, let me love you
Let.. me..love you, from..... afar

Some Wounds Never Heal

He walked in with a load on his shoulder
And a twenty pound pain in his heart
With the tears in his eyes he looked older
And he didn't even know where to start

He spoke of wartime memories
And the injuries that he'd sustained
Said sometimes he wished he'd never come home
Cause that's where he left all his pain

Some wounds never heal
Some loves never part
When she said it was over and goodbye
That's when his world fell apart

In that letter he got on the front lines
It said I'm sorry I found someone new
I can't go on in fear and not knowing
All the sleepless nights I've worried bout you

Some wounds never heal
Sometimes true love parts
Injuries of the flesh can be healed
Unlike those of the heart

If Your Mountains Should Crumble

If your mountains should crumble
To the world's finest sand
If your oceans should run dry
And become arid land

If the weight of the world
Becomes too much to bear
May that weight become lighter
Much lighter than air

If your path should need straightened
Should you stumble and fall
I'll help lift you up
Help you walk and not crawl

If you feel all alone
In the busiest place
And the darkness of nightfall
Should cover your face

For deep in the distance
A light you shall see
You won't be alone
For that light will be me

Forever and ever
I'd do it again
I can't thank you enough
For being my friend

I'M Hearing Voices-Rewinding Memories

It's 4am in the morning
And I just rolled out of bed
Burdened by memories, that you've brought to my dreams
That still live on, inside of my head

Now I'm searching for a pen and some paper
To help ease this pain that's inside
Was my hell your intent, I thought you were Heaven sent
But my truth, was replaced by your lies

I'm hearing voices but how can that be
Cause no lips have they just passed
My mind keeps rewinding, these memories
I just wonder how long will they last

The voices keep repeating her goodbye
I wish they'd replace the teardrops instead
I'm finding out now, how a man lives in hell
Even though, he's not even dead

Sometimes I think that these feelings
Are meant for me to hold
Cause how else could I write, about what's inside
And turn my feelings, into pure country gold

I'm hearing voices but how can that be
Cause no lips have they just passed
My mind keeps rewinding, my memories
I just wonder, how long will they last

Now its 6am in the morning
And works just a short time away
As I sit writing verses, about my life's curses
She wins again, affecting my days

As a writer it seems I pull nightshift
Waking up with words to write down
These emotional feelings, keep my eyes to the ceiling
And her memory, in my lost and found

I'm hearing voices but how can that be
Rewound are the words of my past
Her memories stay with me, and her love is the one thing
In this life, I long to get back

I hear her voice, but how can that be.....

Don'T Worry About Me Falling

His training wheels became more of a burden
So as he helped me take them off
He handed me the wrench that I'd need
We both smiled but we didn't talk

I reflected on times that felt like just yesterday
Yet somehow they seemed long ago
Before he could walk and before he could talk
It almost seemed as if he'd never grow

As he took off so wobbly I cringed a bit
Then came the rock his front tire hit
He fell off of his bike and skinned up his knee
Holding back all his tears he said to me

Don't worry about me falling
I'm tough just like your are dad
Maybe we need to keep my training wheels on
I told him not to give up so fast

I'm so proud of you son and I want you to know
I'll protect you whenever I can
I could see his pride hurt so I assured him
You can do it my little man

Now the years pass by quickly and my little man
Is talking a bit deeper now
His attentions have turned from playing with me
And he thinks he has all the know how

His first taste of love soon came calling
They were inseparable in all ways
But I knew that his heart would probably break
It's a lesson that we all have to take

Don't worry about me falling
I know what love's all about
Dad, you may not believe, but she really loves me
She's like an Angel that fell from a cloud

Well heartache came calling soon after prom
My son had to hear those 2 words
So I just sat back and hurt while he cried
Reminding him first loves are always the worst

I know there must be more fish in the sea
But my heart is hurting right now
I told him it will take time, but you'll be just fine
Someday you'll move on somehow

Now many years passed and he found his true love
His mother and I live alone
Without him we found that it's just a house
Cause with him we made it a home

Years of working and living harder than I
Probably should have lived
Have taken its toll and I have become
Somewhat feeble and frail

As he paid me a visit we had a talk
I told him son there would soon come a day
When I would be called to head on back home
I fell as I walked away

He reached out his arm and he cushioned my fall
It's funny how fast time can change
I looked up at him and gave him a thanks
I just smiled as I walked away

And said don't worry about me falling
Son I'm tough just like you
No matter how soon I leave from this earth
Know that I'll always love you

So don't worry about me falling

Tonight Heaven Got One Hell of a Man

They dont make em like they used to he said
With a tear on his face
And we each share a mem'ry of him
That sorrow and time can't erase

Though it seems much too early I'm guessing
It's all just a part of the plan
Cause we all know the truth is tonight
Heaven..... got one hell of a man

One hell of a father
One hell of a son
One hell of a friend
He was second to none

One hell of a husband
Who fought one hell of a fight
One hell of a man's going home.....
To Heaven tonight

They all smiled a little smile
Cause they'd never heard it that way
But the truth is he said it with respect
And an honest, sincere type of grace

He said in closing I came here tonight
So he would know where I stand
I'll miss you my friend, till I see you again
I'm happy that Heaven.......
Got one hell of a man

One hell of a father
One hell of a son
One hell of a friend
He was second to none

One hell of a husband
Who fought one hell of a fight
One hell of a man's going home.....
To Heaven tonight

He lowered his head and he gave thanks
Words from the heart need no pen
We were blessed in this life
To be gathered this night
And Heaven.......
Got one hell of a man

Heaven got one hell.... of a man.....

Walk Away Prison

He's without a cellmate
There's no guard with a gun
He's been here for years
But sentenced to none

To this place without bars
No windows or cells
May not sound bad to you
But to him it was hell

This walk away prison
Where he goes every night
They'll give him last call
But should read him his rights

Cause he's lost all emotion
If the truth be told
Washed them away
With liquors of gold

As he sits on his stool
Instead of a bunk
All the people in town
Call him a drunk

This walk away prison
Where he goes every night
They'll give him last call
But should read him his rights

Now he's on death row
Not a friend all around
Except for the one
That he couldn't put down

Though the plea wasn't guilty
And the verdicts not in
He can't appeal
For all his sins

This walk away prison
Where he came every night
They gave him last call
And read him his rights
