Election 2016

Fading presence of a stranger,
People warn me of the danger,
Broken promises full of truth,
Debates held faults at the root.

One ballot in your favour,
One ballot I can savor,
Was mine counted I wonder,
Who will win I ponder.

Explosions and walls erected,
Some happy he was selected,
People crying and rejoicing,
Flags burning as they sing.

Will he keep his words?
Will his promises turn to birds?
Will this blindness fade?
Will I see past the shade?

One evil, one evil I shout out,
Only two choices I can count,
Together we are broken,
Sanity remains as a token.

My Blind Eyes See

I hide myself and never speak out,
I wonder why to be heard I have to shout,
Sometimes I close my eyes and hold my breath,
Silence is just a sudden death.

I want to touch you but you are too far away,
Some days I just want you to stay,
But every time I open my mouth to say,
The further you drift away,

My soul and yours were together once,
In a past life together for months,
But you drift away and I forget your face,
You whisper "Don't you know your place?"

Fading sun why must you leave me?
With blind eyes I finally see.
A monster, no longer my love.
The mask you wore flew away like a dove.

Nigeria's Faithful Lover

Streams of empty promises my lover did buy me,
Lights that darkness penetrates and pierces,
Love so much you lift a ring,
Wrath like lightening you bring.

Emotions so heavy strong men cannot lift,
Eyes so blind they see the truth,
My lover is different every four years,
Each bring me to tears.

Our children are full of nothing but air,
Food is scarce, that bit is clear,
Holed passages that many perish each day,
You lie and say "I will find a way"

My heart cries to my lovers each time,
They all cut me from reaching my prime.
The children are fight they have guns and bombs in hand,
Your feet never stay on land.

My lover the man who brought the change,
My lover another thief not in a cage,
My lover an old man who has lost his head.
My lover, the one who killed me Nigeria and left her for dead.
