A Calm Interlude

•24•

Learning. Healing. Growing
Walking away from relationships that challenge my peace. Revisiting myself in places that I left abandoned. Being softer on my thoughts. Being kinder to myself knowing that I’m doing the best that I can. Knowing I am worthy of being admired, loved and cared for even though I am not yet finished. Celebrating my wins no matter how big or small. Take my shortcomings with poise. A constant reminder that I am forever a work in progress. Countdown from 3,2,1

•happy birthday•

Beautiful Sunset

You have now become-

A thousand winds that blow
A whisper amongst the trees
A beautiful sun that sets
One we shall never forget
A shadow in the light
Hidden from our sight
A star that shines at night
The biggest one
Most beautiful and bright

An angel that guides us
For the rest of our lives

-In loving memory of my aunt

Hopeless Romantic

Beneath the stars and galaxies
The moon, that’s split in half
I fall astray in the cosmos of you
Placing my heart once again
In everything that I once believed in
Hopelessly. Helplessly. Passionately
Relentless imaginings of a love so wide
A reminder of what I know to be soft and pure
Organic, yet electric
Dreams of a hopeless romantic

Forgetting

I saw him today
And in that moment, it reminded me of everything I loved.
His height, his smile, the straight face, his walk.
I almost forgot..those things weren't mine to think about anymore.
I wished I was the one who'd gotten the message when he got home safe...
I saw him today and I was crushed..he wasn't mine anymore.

Dear Mom

Dear mom,
I cannot begin to say
How much I love you
In each and every way.

Mom you are the greatest
That I’ve ever known,
I think God made my mother
Just like he would make his own.

A helper and a guide,
She is always right there by my side,
She teaches me right from wrong
And I forgot to mention, she is very strong!

She is very special,
She’s my best friend,
Today and always mommy,
I’ll love you till the very end.

Emotions

She stood and stared through the window,
Thinking her mind was playing games on her
But no..
There they stood..
What was supposed to be her ‘forever’?
Turned into her never
Trying to suppress her feelings of hurt
How did he replace her so quickly?
She closed her eyes and let the tear fall.

Ode To Lao

Home is where the heart is
Two eyes looking back at me
In your presence and embrace
The safest place I’ve ever been
The place I’d like to stay
Constant laughter
Complete vulnerability of just being, me
I think this is perfectly how it should be
We fit
And I can’t help but feel
Like this is home
And everywhere I’ve never been
You feel like home
The home I’ve built within
The home I’ve placed my love in

The Perfect Portrait of Serenity

The lime-colored and yellow intertwined leaves which hover over the still waters create the perfect portrait of serenity. The tall, graceful trees, stretching towards the sky created an umbrella of shade. Underneath the tree lay the plush grass that holds your body gently on the ground. The still waters created a resting place for the birds and frogs. The reflection of the atmosphere and the sun's radiating beams could be seen in the waters. Around the green bushes, dragonflies can be seen flying around, along with butterflies resting on the ground. The final touch was the bridge, adding mystery to the atmosphere. Who knows what happened there? The bridge seemed like a place where many love stories happened. In that place, many girls received their first kiss. The bridge added a touch of love to the scenery. Engraved in the stone hedge, were the names of the couples who had been there. For everyone who visited, the silence of the atmosphere and all it had to offer took their breath away.

My Longtime Beau

The memory of a good person is a blessing
But the thing about remembering is that you don't forget.
I remember when your name would roll of my tongue,
Now it's to the point where I can't say it without deep thought.
The memories aren't something that would be thrown around carelessly,
Because the time spent with you we could both feel the chemistry.
The history and chemistry, not just two subjects,
But what we had can fit into those classes..
Only to be described to those with a high level of intellect.
Now everything has gone back to the way it was, before we met.
Everything's a mystery, we've both let go..
This poem is dedicated to you, signed to
'My Longtime Beau'

Slave To Myself

I do not own anything,
At all,
Not even
Myself
Hanging my thoughts on a shelf
I do not own those either,
Thinking to myself,
Where do I belong?
Wishing that this suffering can be gone.
