Beyond its Eyes

My skin is in error.
Now I am clothed in revile and terror.
Flesh stitched to my hands to reach divinity above.
However, my hands too rough for a softer love.

Mortality left unsatisfied
And my life and death are denied.
Many voices unheard, many words unsaid
Far into the night within my last bed.

I sleep to dream to God's surprise
Mimicking the bird, seeing worlds beyond its eyes
Freedom grins inside invisible cages
The black is smeared on wet riddled pages.

Yet.. my song remains
I awake and proclaim:
Fly far from here to a good land rediscovered
Inevitably inseparable, we the colored.

Through the winds of every direction, we shall unify.
A world where black bodies never cry.
Indeed will shall sing
For the milk and honey our ancestors bringed.

Stop the Bombs

Stop the bombs,
The cities are eaten by napalm.
Stop the bombs
Keep calm and carry on

Stop the bombs,
We cant breathe
Stop the bombs
The military made us leave

Save the homeless man
Reading the psalms
Stop the bombs
No one to sing his song

Stop the bombs
Strife will be global
Stop the bombs
Fallen out like Chernobyl

Stop the bombs
We wanna see the sun
Lay down your knives and heavy guns
How many more bombs until there's none

Look up to the sky
See the dove fly
Hush the war drums
Maybe it will comfort some

Look up to the sky
Watch the dove fly
Branch in her beak
It is peace we seek.

Creative People

Creative people far and wide, east to west.
Those who paint, sing, and all the rest
Those who lavish their heart onto their art
Are individual expressions of God’s Grand Sonata
They create to keep the little details of life relevant,
And they keep their fire bright in its element.

Artists can't be told who to be,
                                      For their spirits are free.

                                      All their creations, they admire,
In awe of simplicity - becoming inspired.

                                      So creators of little things
                                      Creators of greater things,

           Craft your aesthetic wings.
        For people with colorful minds
Should fly away from this weeping world.
And their homes are not here or there,
 Never bought nor sold,
But they live in the sacred realm of their souls.

A New Experience

                                       The world turns quietly
                                       Bringing a new feeling
And a breath of fresh air
To this next year of frivolous cares.

May our hearts experience the peace of

                              Purple mountaintops touching the sky,
Or when canoes afloat in Fern Lake slowly pass by.
And the sight of innocent children chasing after golden butterflies.

This is how the new year will feel like.

Lovely Literature

This, I don’t want to write.
I will lie my pen to rest tonight,
And tear myself away from my paper,
Because all of my ideas are now distant blurs.

It’s seven in the morning and my bed is cold,
For I am reading my past writings, wrinkled and old.
Wondering what my thoughts were while writing those,
But I digress, for in my youth, my imagination was simple as the wind blows.

Now I am guilty of being a poet making no sense.
For my words are orphans of silence
Never describing my experiences completely.
But by these words, I am lead away from my fears, away from reality.

They are the bridge across the chasm of broken bliss.
And each line is a step closer to escape the dark abyss

It's now ten a.m. and my spirit is strangely nourished from finishing this piece.
So finally I feel the lightness of my soul.
Finally this poetry sets me free.
This lovely literature has given me liberty.

Spring Has My Love

Seven long weeks of winter with her snow not refraining,
But oh, approaching is a season who shall give my joy endless reining.

And when the dark clouds shower,
The fields shall sprout lavender flowers.
Tis’ not I love Spring with favoritism.
Oh no indeed my adoration toward all seasons is equal
Alas, I cannot save myself from the sight of the leaves’ resurrection.

And if ultimately I were to choose
which of Earth’s seasons should not I lose,
Then toward God, I would gaze my face
and pray Him not to withhold Spring’s Grace.

Child's Eyes

Ah, If all eyes were like a child’s.
Maybe then a balloon could lift us to the sky.
Life wouldn’t seem like a trial,
Broken hearts would begin to fly.
Harmony would be multiplied,
Our minds wide and our eyes bright.
Curiosity our teacher of wisdom and guide.
And humanity would be reconciled,
If all eyes were like a child’s.

Suburban Blues

Well, get up on time,
See your days pass by.
Don’t ask questions,
To leaders of suppression.
Cause court is in session.
Obey this do that,
When you go out,
Don't wear hood or hat.

Ah, eat more Tyson food
City gave us a candle,
Ask for a meal, they might be in a good mood.
Lights, camera, action,
Fake your true reaction.
College teaching us
Basic subtraction,
Wondering if it’s all distraction
To what we love to do

Ah, sulfates in shampoo
Don’t complain about
Government voodoo
Whatever you do
Whatever you see
Don’t take it too personally.
Cause you might change the world
May do what they don't want you to.
Might abolish greed,
And you might uproot their evil seed.

Ads littered on t.v.
It’s bait for the hook
Crooks stalking my Facebook
Someone’s in a fight,
But people enjoy and look look look.

Well, Billy threw up
That corn syrup.
Read your schoolbooks and shut-up.
Rise for the anthem,
Rise for the pastor,
Labeled dumb for not
Thinking faster.
Sally resisted two faced authorities.
Cells are filled with innocent minorities.

Ah, preach it on hills
Lights flashing in Area 51,
They shut down my windmill
I’m faced with a giant and my ammo equals none.
How is my grandson gonna live?
If all he does is forgive
Those who take and do not give?
I’m staying home today,
To relax and pray.

Ah but GMO is in my fruit.
Saw a man trade his soul for a nice suit.
Hypocrites smile with snakes in their boots.
Ben came home with black eye
Then left his mama without a goodbye.
Mamas sittin on the porch only to cry
For her son who is now getting high.
Last week he was a victim in a driveby.
Read all about it in the news.
Single mother of none in suburban town of blues.

Little girl taken in an alleyway,
Policemen said they'll find her another day
Unless the parents have money to pay,
You won't be seein her face, hey!
Little girl grew up hangin by street corners,
Asking for one night for only four quarters.

Meanwhile in Flint Michigan
The water is polluted brown but they ain't listenin,
So the citizens are thirstin’
For some hydration.
Metals in their water
While the mayor counts his dollars
The governors apologize
But it's just more lies.
Read all about it in the news,
Truth is kept hidden in suburban town of blues.

A Different World

If you listen carefully, you can hear the enchantments of nature.
And at night, when the stars put on their show,
If you open your heart, you can feel their glow.
The little things stand out.

The crickets sing near the lakebed,
The field illumined by sparkling glows of fireflies,
And the waters reflect the skies
Its simple beauty stands out.
But I can’t help to think about

How planet earth must have a twin!
Suppose the beauty of nature dwells another place else.
And nature thrives within different worlds and begins
Past countless stars and constellation belts,
Lies a parallel earth where another sun’s ray can be felt.

No doubt then it is easy to see
Another mother of nature dwells within the galaxy.
And seeds are sown by people from distant planets
A different world somewhere out there- hidden by a starry blanket.

Dear Sweet Otis

Dear sweet Otis,
Days regrettably went by when I didn't see you,
You passed away too soon.
Playing fetch in heaven now,
But still with me somehow.

My sweet puppy,
The mornings are empty,
They feel more lonely,
Cause you don't wake up beside me.

A boy and his dog once chased the sunset.
We were together and unified.
Our last month happy in July.
Until Angels sang your last lullaby.
Otis, sweet puppy goodbye.
