Homeless Shelter

Rather stay in with my words
Than think or feel today
I'll hang them in the air so that
The sky is not so gray
Or better yet I'll use them
In the way that I know best
Adorning them with metaphor,
And dressed at my behest
My head is home to many
Lonely misdirected thoughts
Searching for their purpose
Looking to connect the dots
My heart would gladly guide them
Every way 'cept which is right
And they're coming in to warm
Themselves by trash can fire light
But these orphans are my friends
The beggars, liars, lepers, thieves
Have no single thing to lose, and
So they teach me how to grieve.

Dead Sea

Cosmic ocean save a space
For me among the stars
For one day I'll return to
These supernal reservoirs
What's left of me will cease
To be when I am finally home
And merge with other souls
Amidst the spatial catacomb

Moonlit Flit

I’m leaving when the even tide
Descends upon this day
I know of many fleeting hearts
Persistent in this way
Feelings left to fight in squalor
Tell me how it’s fair?
I should hurt myself to learn
That you will never care!

Wishful Thinking

If you would let me love you
I know I would appease
Every inch of woman could
Collapse me to my knees
No promise to be gentle
This intoxicating view, of
A goddess bared before me
Drives my reasoning askew
Give it just a little longer, and
You may not have a say
Of a fate within my arms to
Wrench a hungry mind astray
Feed me all of your desire
I know you could use me too
And should anything be held
To me I'd rather it be you

I'M An Addict Too

Eventually I'll know
The dirty things you hide inside
Spread anxiously before me
Till I find nothing to hide
I've developed quite a habit
And it's all because of you
Only stopped to smell the roses
But kept getting high on you
You can tell me how you like it
Or just let this take its course
Ride it out til our frustration
Leaves us dripping wet and hoarse
Clutch my hand for you're my
Partner in this lustiest of crimes
Always one to find the sweeter
Spot and turn my words to rhymes

The Grievance

We part under protest
Hearts aching implore
As angels escort you
To heavens front door
The reason the question
Our queries ignored
Reluctant we give your
Light back to the Lord
Our Father in heaven
Extend us your grace
Note that under duress
Silence stands in your place
If we must endure
Without wondering why
Your motive is suspect
Demands we comply
His hardest to take
Are the closest to you
Even God had to give
A life up so we knew
That forever he loved us
Not one, two, or few,
But all are his children
He suffers death too

The Unfamiliar

Closer, draw me near
Place your heart on mine
Clutch my heaving chest and
Run your fingers up my spine
Is what I feel correct my dear
This numb to self-control?
Sink your feelings deeply while
You’re searching for my soul
Rock me back and forth to life
Aggressor of my skin, But
In the process proving
That our magic lay within
The limit of imagination
Leaves no room for more
Were you ever truly real?
I knew no love as this before

I Digress

To and fro her feelings go
Leading mine astray
Imagine her surprise when I
Should have something to say!
Love is patient, love is kind
It seems that I might burst
Biting through my tongue, I
Swallow blood to quench my thirst
Restraint my swiftly dying friend
Held dearest in my heart
Your wisdom never lacking
Motivation on your part
As far as dying wishes go
I’ll honor your request
And bury you between the
Bone and sinew in my chest
