Shapes

Ellipse, evolute, vertex and curve,
Humdrum circle or ricochet swerve
Astroids or cusps, arcs or sectors;
What have those got to do with vectors?
Curvature, cone, Cartesian plane…
Oval, deltoid… what’s in a name?
Geoid oscillation, pedal, radial, rose…
What on earth do I know of those?
Hypocycloid, cruciform, Sierpinski carpet…
Inverse tangent or Apollonian gasket?
Snowflake, hypercube, space-time dimension
Pressured, gauged, or under tension?
Trammel of Archimedes, planes, rotations –
Congruence, right angles, equivalence relation;
Conchoid curve, Orthoptic, Lemoine hexagon,
Triangle, star or good old pentagon.
Crescent, rhombus, magatama, square,
Caustic curves, salinon, ying-yang or sphere!
About whichever’s the shape that you talk,
Basically, it’s taking a line for a walk!

Rain

Rain

After the rain, I shear off
A slice of rainbow, just for you.
Hyetal words run through my (b)rain
Drizzle, hail, deluge, downpour, showers...
But the most mellifluous and redolent
With memories of you
Is petrichor because like the
Bare rocks and gnarled tree trunks
The arid landscape of my heart
Longs for you, my rain in the desert,
And the heavenly scent reminds me of
That downpour…when you proposed.
But now, clouds cover the sun
Rain and tears run down my face
Because I miss you.

Animal Haiku

illusions galore
a cat thinks it’s a tiger
and a worm, a snake.//

ladybird so cute
gauzy yellow wings beneath
black-speckled crimson.//

life in the fast lane
for the tortoise and the snail
is not worth the stress.//

lions are the mane thing;
monk seals lead a sheltered life;
bees are the bee’s knees!//

oyster in the sea
when asked what the world is like
says, ‘just like me!’//

peacock struts his stuff;
oyster is a gem to know;
zebra wears jim-jams!//

penguin in a tux
pretty pink flamingo struts...
seashore dusk party!

Do Not Think

Fools rush in where
Both angels and devils fear to tread.
They know that procrastination
Is the thief of time and space.
To be, or not to be
Are not questions – they’re replies
To the quintessential quandary.
Don’t think. Go by your gut reaction.

My Good Poetry

Write bad poetrations, thus inclined
To me, said she gruntingly.
I said my pluraled poetry is good. I just
Cannot blotchitnize bad poetry if I lortryop.
You are brugingthed conceited, she said.
Not, I am the othoriginal peddler of truth.
I cannot lieth for largid butterfunned toffee.
I cannot lieth if I grozling to.
Just as I
Cannot scribshod bad poetry.
She dringulized that anyway
What I think is good poestration
Like thinst
Is actuallyatrocioused poetry; not actually weevilif, but bad-thumpered, bleurgaucratic, officithiyed, cothillous, and torturises people
I beg to differ.
I don’t beg at all, actuallisst.
I insist.

Like jowling meated liverslime,
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes,
And hooptiously drangle me,
With crinkly bindlewurdles,mashurbitries.
Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon,
See if I don't!
